I was a rocker in the 60’s riding Nortons (350cc Navigator and 650ss), some years later I had a couple of Lambrettas but went back to bikes and now at the age of 80 I’ve got a Honda VFR v-tech….without doubt the best bike I’ve ever owned. During the 80’s I worked in Sweden (Stockholm, Uppsala and Umea) and got to love the country and it’s people. This video is so typical of the Swedes, very orderly and organised; I was unaware of the popularity of the mods & rocker culture though. The custom car movement was very prominent when I worked there…..as was ABBA of course!

@meilurquart . . . I hope I'm still riding when I'm 80 years old. Last year I purchased a brand new Triumph Bonneville T120. I hadn't owned or ridden a motorcycle in 34 years !! At the age of 62, it has done wonders to improve my spirit of life. ❤ ❤

I'm a biker, I passed my test in 1977. The smell of 2 stroke oil must have been great that day! I've never ridden a scooter though. I love the older bikes and own bikes from the 70s 80s and early 90s. The scooters are nice, but I must be a rocker, not a mod. I wear a leather jacket, not a parka.

If I had lived at the time when the café racer was born, I would undoubtedly be a Rocker, since I discovered the world of motorcycles I loved the café racer, now I am a 20 year old and I have my own café racer style motorcycle, and watching this video undoubtedly makes me reaffirm that for me personally it is my favorite style, That's uncomfortable, but you adapt.

60s-70s media that put mods and rockers at each others throats.just different types of two wheel travel as far as I'm concerned.although secretly most rockers wanted a lambretta....the mods smelled better.

YES I HAD A SCOOTER BUT WENT ONTO MOTORCYCLES,A 250 ARIEL ARROW,A 250 NORTON JUBILEE, AND A 200 SUZUKI INVADER, IN THOSE DAYS ONE COULD RIDE ON L PLATES UP TO 250,SADLY I NEVER TOOK MY TEST, NOW WELL OVER 60 I LIVED THROUGH THE GOLDEN AGE OF TRIUMPHS BSA'S NORTONS AND AJS'S,MY COUSIN HAD A 1960S TRIUMPH THUNDERBIRD.

I was a rocker in the 70s great days great fun didn’t take part in all this bashing the mods, biking biking only hitin the road every given opportunity I had a 650 bSA) Silver Road rocket what a machine for the time 120 mph that was considered very fast in them days anyway I had the time of my life.

Same here, I dress like a Mod, listen to the music that Mods would listen to, and I like scooters (Lambretta LI150 Series 3, Lambretta LI150 Special, Lambretta TV200, Lambretta SX200, Vespa 125); However, I like a lot of Rockabilly and I like bikes (Royal Enfield Classic 500, Harley Davidson Electra Ultra Limited, Vincent Black Shadow, 1976 Kawasaki KZ900), so I guess I’m a Mocker.

this looks like a rich kids fashionista. Authentic Mods and Bikers are both cool by my book. I'm an old mod, and have had loads of biker friends from work. Great people and jerks on both sides. But (real) Mods have a much better variety of music and are less subject to the politics bullshit some bikers tend to go for. Besides Mods ride in class, maybe slow but classy. Like my mom used yo say : big cylinder, small dick. Hahaha.

how could you like the mods? they ride unreliable and slow 50cc vespas... compared to my 600cc BSA M20... heaps quicker, looks cooler no problems since 1942 (my gramps owned it since new) and sounds 1000x louder and more bad ass... bikes just win.

shows what you know about scooters... 50cc vespas or lambrettas where in the minority, most of them where 150's 180's and 200's. and yea a 600cc BSA may be heaps quicker, but you wont be driving past many petrol stations without stopping, and when something does go wrong on that kind of bike the repair bill is gonna be huge and time consuming. whereas vespa motors are built so simple that most problems can be fixed using only a spanner and a screwdriver. to put it simple, do your goddamn research before you make yourself look like a prick. go be an idiot somewhere else.

that's funny as you obviously know zero about bikes... considering a BSA M20 has cast iron parts - these things never die. As I said my grandpa (now 86) owned it since he was 18 and passed it on to me when 18 and now 22... I ride it every weekend and often during the week... not a SINGLE issue. not to mention when it broke down in the 80's it needed a simple gearbox rebuild... this cost next to nothing and considering it one of the highest produced BSA's parts are very plentiful (used during the war) Vespa's although great are slow, and because they are high revving their motors don't last nearly as long as a bike.

I find it hilarious too that you say motorbikes get worse fuel economy... when a big bike has a lower compression rate, more gears and therefore less high revs - therefore an incredibly low fuel economy - often as low as a scooter which rev much higher. not to mention my bike can go up a steep freeway without any issues compared to a lame city vespa commuter. bikes shit all over your vespas. Don't get me wrong the styling of a Vespa is cool and vintage... but you can't say those tiny motors are good.

yea, kinda funny how most sources say that the average fuel economy from a 600cc engine is 40-50mpg. yea small engines rev higher, but it is not all down to that. a lot of the fuel consumption is down to engine capacity too ya know. and if these tiny motors are so terrible then explain how millions have been sold worldwide. if they where really that bad, fewer people would own them.

Many years ago(too many !) I was in Brighton one Sunday .Very quiet and peaceful .I could not believe the Daily Mirror headlines on Monday .There were supposed to have been fights between Mods and Rockers and deckchairs thrown into the sea etc. Total chaos . Up to then I had always accepted what I read in the newspapers . What a mug ! . It has got worse with the misleading stories over the years .Lies are just as bad by what is omitted on purpose as what is said ,as well .
