Modular Model Railroad with German Steam Locomotives and Diesel Railcars

This modular model railroad layout was presented at the international exhibition for model railroading and rail transport modeling, called “Intermodellbau” in Dortmund, Germany. The layout consists of different segments and has an overall length of nearly ten meters or 33 feet. It was built in O scale by a group of German model railroaders. The layout depicts a single-track railroad line somewhere in the north of Germany. The rolling stock was made by the German manufacturer “Lenz”, a company known throughout Europe for its locomotives, coaches and decoders in 1/45 scale.

Great clean trains the way the factory made them. Dirty trains mean that the maintenance crews are lazy and hiding from the boss who wants the trains washed regularly.

Obviously a lot of work on this layout❤️ a little more wear and tear...ie: rust, faded and weathered accents on buildings, trains and vehicles, would contribute greatly to the realism! But great job, thanks for sharing 👌🏻🌵🤠🌵

Lance Henry No weathering to ruin the beauty and factory paint job right out of the box. Real railroad companies want their trains washed regularly and to stay clean for the public. That is realism!

Generally, a stunning glayout. Always nice to see the effort people put in their projects if they want. The only thin g that nearly always baffles me is the fact that they run on their perfectly detailled layout trains that look like they just left the manufacturer. The absence of any kind of weathering shrinks the otherwise greatness of such layouts very much. And that is a pity.

It could be once weathered the value of the train may drop or the train is too expansive to weathered.

I know exactly what you mean. Many model railroaders do not dare weathering their rolling stock. They fear a loss of value.

Beautiful Sir! I wonder if you might help me identify a locomotive I have. I can’t seem to find anything about it anywhere. It is an O gauge 2-10-0 wheel arrangement (2 rail) but looks different than a BR44. I would be happy to send you photos. It has the number 42 002 on the boiler but it is not a BR42.
