Is South Africa experiencing a silent civil war caused by the faltering economy? In his latest book‚ A manifesto for Social Change, author and political economist Moeletsi Mbeki argues South Africa is ruled by the political and economic elite, who were not only in conflict but also suspicious of each other. But how much of that can be seen in the internal politics and conflicts within the ruling African National Congress? Joining Bruce Whitfield to answer these questions is Moeletsi Mbeki.

I just love this man Mr Mbeki, especially when he said Blacks and coloureds are left behind. Its the first time I ve ever heard coloureds being included in all the unfairness going on. ( THIS was in the first video). The Mbekis are good people.

Great ideas Mr Mbeki But now come forward with workable plans where everybody will benifit. We hear many great ideas but see very little workable plans. This is the problem in this country. Sometimes I get the idea that the A N C does not want these ideas to work out afraid that it will strip them from political power.

STILL one of my favourite ZAfrikans. What about the fight betwwen those who control the state and the economy and the rest of us? There is a war on, and no one seems to notice ... Zappa put it this way: Politics is the Entertainment Division of the Military Industrial Complex
