At first, I removed all three and the pressure was like a fire hose and the switch no longer changed the water pattern. I put the two innermost savers back in place and left the outermost one out. I could probably power wash my deck with this now and all of the patterns work again. I'm going to add the flow control valve to bring it back down a bit. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful.

Only had to remove the first water saver, and now have plenty of water pressure. Recommend removing one at a time and trying it to achieve the pressure you like. May save from having to add the valve.

Only remove the first x-shaped piece. The second, spring-loaded piece is for the pulsing on a few of the settings. After taking out the first one, my shower was just fine...couldn't ask for more pressure.

Did all the finish plumbing on my new build a couple years ago. My nephew is a plumber/pipe fitter. When I installed my Moen fixed shower head he asked me if I “removed the democrat” Thought that was a pretty funny take on the issue of water restrictions.

Ken, thanks alot! Mine was part of a kit with shower head and controls. It had 3 also. The cheaper Moen that had 8 shower settings only had one. Reapply appreciate it!

@sueburnstin4768 0 seconds ago I had a restricted water flow from my Moen shower head as well, but I troubleshooted with the shower head removed and then turned on the water after removal to see what the flow pressure was like thru the shower hose. Low and behold it also had washers that restricted the flow so then I removed the washers from the hose and turned the water on again and whoa Nelly, the water came thru at 2.5 GPM, just like the pressure valve is rated. I then screwed on the shower head again, leaving it's washer in (because it is also deeper inside and harder to remove compared to the hose washer. Problem solved, water pressure was fantastic!!!

I don't understand why you would need to install the extra valve. Couldn't you just not turn on the water all the way?

Do NOT remove all 3. I followed these instructions and now the button on the shower head does not cycle through the options. Now the shower head is useless!
