It's a great shame that so many events have been cancelled. Our own Jorvik Festival was cancelled this year; looking forward to 2022.

Hope that Wolin Festival gona happen this year its bigest fight around world with like 800 warriors all around the world .... even from Australia or New Zeland

In the Netherlands, all viking markets have been canceled so far😢

Not all of them have been canceled here, (at least not yet) we will have to see. I hope that some of the markets in the Netherlands will be allowed to open.

I would dearly love to be able to go to those types of events there. My hubby and I go to Renaissance Faires in our area and always have a wonderful time. We go in costume and my dear hubby makes a great looking Ranger or Scottish warrior. There's so much to see and do, along with buying unique items to add to our costumes and collections. Oh, and the jousts are superb, no pre-cut lances, the knights are really trying to unhorse each other. Watching those battles always gives a thrill.

Attending a festival in a costume is something I haven't done before. I have thought of doing it someday, but it is quite expensive to buy the different parts. Yes! the battles are really nice, they do their best to win, and you can clearly see it. They spend a lot of time practicing throughout the year in their small local clubs.

@@Skjalden We gathered our different costumes pretty much a piece at a time, plus I made him a shirt and a chemise for myself. Going in costume makes the event much more immersive and most of the folks at the Ren Faires dress up, too. We've seen outfits from the Medieval, Italian and British Renaissance, pirates, fantasy creatures, just anything people can dream up and throw together. And yes, the battles are great to watch, just as I love the jousting. All in all, a wonderful, memorable experience.

@@Skjalden Oh, you really should wear a costume if/when you get the chance. It makes all the difference when you can actually feel you're a part of the whole event. I've never been to a moot but would love to go someday - I live in the U.S. so .... lol, expensive to get there. I am a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism though, so I get to dress for those at least. Lots of fun. Sadly, all of our events were also cancelled last year and, so far, this year as well. Strictly online for now. If you are able to sew and can find the right suppliers/resources, it's cheaper to make your own outfit. You could check out some of the other KZfaqrs that do historical costuming - and there are a lot of them, lol. They may have some resources you could use. ;) May the Gods bless you with the means to obtain the proper attire and accessories to be able to dress the part.
