“In my room” by the beach boys is on surfer girl, not surfs up. Understand the mixup with all the surfs in the titles. Good stuff gentlemen, appreciate the insight from knowledgeable music fans like yourselves. Keep the roundtables coming.

As a relatively young/new collector (4 years with around 400 LPs). I have definitely had a large shift in buying habits in the last few months. I feel much less pressure in buying the shiny new audiophile release. Instead I am focusing on buying music that I absolutely love. I also have much more confidence in buying used LPs off Discogs and am seeking out some original pressings. I must say it is nice not to feel this FOMO pressure anymore, now I can focus on the music and building a truly unique collection! As Mazzy would say, it’s all about the music stupid!

Nice job boys 👍 Love these videos because they are like vinyl therapy....constantly thinking I am spending too much on the collection... then I hear everyone on the panel talking about the difference of certain releases and the 7 pressings they own...I then realize I'm not there...yet🤔 On a side note....I'm a HUGE Kinks fan...and a big shout-out on Mazzy's recent videos...great job and highly recommended 👍

I grabbed a few Excitable Boy 1st pressings from thrift shops 25 years ago, (paid no more than $3- each) gave a few away to friends because of the great sonics, no need to buy a MOFI 45rpm pressing if you have an OG I didn't like the K.Edkins LP much, only listened to Side 1 and sold it, getting more picky in my old age. I think someone said Side 2 was the better side but not keeping an LP with 1 good side.

Thanks a lot Mazzy! You’re gonna single-handedly drive up the cost of the OG! Speaking of FOMO, made me pause the video so I could still find a NM one (specifically). Luckily my wife loves vinyl as much as I do😜 Great job as always guys…

Great show, Steve. I have the MoFi Dean Martin, This Time I’m Swingin’ and they added an extra track at the end “Ain’t that a kick in the head” from the same Dean Martin-Nelson Riddle session. What is cool about this is that it’s a famous Dino song but it was only released as a 7” single, so the MoFi is way to get this great song in your collection. Happy they decided to add it. - Mike

Have been enjoying your videos for a while. I had to pull out my OG Joe Cocker which I purchased when I was 16 and give it a spin. Usually those tan A&M's sound great. Mine sounds just fine, I did not hear any of the problems you mentioned.

Joe Cocker S/T... Is your original Joe Cocker an UK og? If not, maybe Canada got copytapes? Regal Zonophone originals are the way to go with these, but pricey. Mines about VG. Still the sound shines through. Ive also heard the '82 German Cube label 1/2 Speed is good but Ive never heard it. However, good news, Joe Cocker S/T sounds great on the Speakers Corner. I have that one. Its very good. Speakers Corner did it in 2000. Not too pricey. 35-50 bucks.

It can be a "crap shoot" as quality is concerned! I just bought a "talking heads/ speaking in tounges" from "rhino" cut by "Chris Bellman" it sounded OK, but not quite what I expected! I may look for an earlier pressing! But the rhino is just "okay"!

Steve, what album was it you were talking about that had Jimmy Page on it as well? I can't see worth a darn and I didn't see the cover. And was that the $25 good price album that y'all were talking about? I think they were two separate albums because Kevin Gray had mastered the $25 one and I heard that you weren't happy with the sound on the one with some Jimmy Page tracks on it. Thanks for any info. Hi Brian. I picked up Warren Zevon self titled cut by Kevin Gray for $25 it was a 2009 remastered. The other album I was showing was Joe Cocker’s A Little Help From My Friends album which has Jimmy Page on it.

It's odd that you have audiophiles talking about vinyl but no one is talking about SPARS Code or AAA records. What's the point of listening to records if they are digital?
@revelry1969
@revelry1969 Жыл бұрын
Some digitally produced vinyl sounds great. As much gruff as the mofi one step get most sound amazing. DSD256 is basically the master tape. Digital isn’t the problem. It’s crap mastering. The magic in vinyl is the cartridge and stylus. Analogphiles will tell you AAA. But they are just ignoring the truth. Digital sourcing is fine with good process
@greencraig8570
@greencraig8570 Жыл бұрын
@@revelry1969 I disagree, but my post isnt about some tribal analog vs digital debate. At any rate, there are tons of flat-sounding lifeless records from digital sources. The Deutsche Grammophon catalog, for example. The stereo release of the Beatles catalog in 2012. (OMG, was that awful) The fact that you have "audiophiles" and vinyl enthusiasts not even mentioning the provenance of the recordings is strange. As if there's no difference between analog and digital ever. Something from a DSD source may sound OK, but then compare it to the original analog source. I don't think it will stack up on a revealing system. Most folks have very cheap systems (if anything at all)
@revelry1969
@revelry1969 Жыл бұрын
@@greencraig8570 I would put you in the blind analogphile category. I have lots of analog sourced records that sound like crap. You are just plain wrong. It is mostly about the mastering. Open your eyes.
