Earlier this evening (Christmas Day) I fell asleep watching "The Star of Bethlehem" documentary on YT and I saw in a dream myself as the apple of God's Eye watching Him as He wrote in The Book Of Life. On all the pages were drawings of Jesus. Jesus being scourged, Jesus on The Cross and one of Jesus lying dead with the wound in His side open facing me. As I watched God continue to write I began hearing this Mogwai song which is based on a traditional Jewish hymn sung on Rosh Hashanah. The day God entered my life just so happened to be Rosh Hashanah 2010. I was just looking up more info on this song and found out it is actually a Jewish prayer to God for divine grace despite sins committed and in the liner notes of the Mogwai EP containing their rendition it writes "Inscribe us for blessing in thy book of life." What an incredible Christmas gift. God is so good to me. And I love that He loves Mogwai like me.

This tune is the traditional tune for the Jewish prayer "avinu malkenu"
@triggerbunny24 күн бұрын
Wasn't there another prayer as well? I was of the understanding that this is a combination of two (thus the two segments of the song) traditional Jewish prayers/melodies that another composer arranged with Mogwai. I think Avinu Malkenu was the driving force of the song and the rhythmic build up of intensity feel likes it connects to that particular prayer for sure.

the orange-juice-carton-at-a-gig person at 5:08 is MY person
@SD_Marc Жыл бұрын
There may be a reason for that. When I was in high school the Grateful Dead played at a community college in my neighborhood. One of the kids that worked at the local 7/11 said the deadheads cleaned them out of orange juice before noon. I heard it was an LSD enhancer. Don't know if that's true, or if 5:08 is maybe just healthy.

Spec Bebop my ex GF bought tickets for us to go see them here in Scotland in December since she knew how nuts I am over the band but never been able to drag someone to see them with me (this is since '98!) needless to say I'm not going anymore, it's difficult to say what breaks my heart more, that we are split up or that I won't be seeing Mogwai
