Hafeez is totally spot on, Azam Khan has debuted in 2021, its been 4 years and still he hasn't shown any signs of improvement in his fitness, blaming coaches every time wont work you'd have to put in some effort

Azam khan is unfit. Period. Blaming coaches is stupid. If Azam khan walks into a team.. where will the captain place him apart from keeping! Can you field him at covers or in the slips.. or in the infield ! Trust me he will not last 2 matches when he faces Cummins.. Bumrah or any other world class pacer! Someone has to tell him to work towards his fitness. 🎉🎉

@@ankit1819 haha that is true. I am not comparing fitness. I am thinking more about giving players confidence by allowing them to play for longer without the fear of getting dropped. Rohit became consistent only after the fact that he knew that he wasn't going to get dropped and was given the confidence to do something new as an opener. From their conversation, it looks like Azam Khan is a special talent, so he should be given a longer rope before he gets dropped.

But Azam is even heavier than Inzi. And Inzi still had the stamina to play Tests and ODIs; very little T20s in his career. Azam has only performed in T20s. Does he even have the fitness to last in the longer formats?

@@taimurhuk543 Inzy had a world class career because he had that natural ability to make the fast bowlers look like spinners. And of course he worked on it and that’s why his fitness didn’t interfere with his timing that much. But Azam Khan should be concentrating more on the skills if he can’t do anything about the fitness.

@@shramansen1216 fitness wasn't as big of an issue during his time either. Running very fast between the wickets was more of a luxury than a necessity. Javed Miandad and the late Dean Jones scored many of their runs running hard between the wickets. They were ahead of their time. Now you look at the top teams like Australia and India. Kohli, Warner and others run like energizer bunnies. Teams like Pakistan who don't have anyone that is bothered to run that fast have fallen behind.

Hafeez is spot on with his points...And on top of that it's not just Azam Khan but also all the other Pakistan players barring Aamer Jamal and Rizwan who need to be questioned on their lack of mental strength and consistency on the field... Given the recent performances by the Pakistan team it is abundantly clear that the focus is more on minting money from league cricket and endorsements rather than focusing on their performances in International series and World Cups

Players like Azam khan should absolutely not be picked by any team! No matter how good you may be with the bat and ball, fitness has to be the top most priority for any player and selectors! That even goes for Sarfaraz khan in indian team as well.

Modern day cricket requires fitness.. Every run is important.. Over and above that, his keeping skills is also average.. Only on the basis of six hitting ability, you cant be selected.. A person who has good skills and fitness should always be preferred over him

I guess coach will not extract performance out of a player but enhance his skills. If u are skilled enough u will play in any condition. U can be trained for ur skills and not for what u deliver on field. Accept the fact that he is in the team for hard hitting and he should be given the same responsibility.

Pakistan should invest on cricketers who can serve them for longer period of time. Considering his fitness, Azam Khan will not be able to serve Pakistan for more than 3-4 years (Max). He is prone to injuries due to body weight

It's funny how the host and the other panelists, except Hafeez, are dancing gingerly on the topic of Azam Khan- simply because he's the privileged son of Moin Khan, who is not only an influential name in Pakistan cricket but has also been part of this panel. The fact is no player can dictate the terms by which the team chooses him. No professional team in the world would even consider such an obese & unfit player for its squad. It's laughable that it's even a topic of discussion in Pakistan. Actually, this topic reflects how nepotism and favoritism play a dominating part in team selections in Pakistan. It's actually quite an amusing debate for those of us outside Pakistan to observe. And I must say it's quite a revelation!
