This was insightful but also a great look into Western Orientalism. Iran had science, universities, technology, medicine, and a civilizational heritage long before the last Shah. It was only in the mid to late 19th century that certain countries in Northwestern Europe was even able to make certain technological advancements that gave them advantages against old civilizations like Iran, China, etc etc. As we can see many places caught on very quickly a few decades or so later.

@@Persianempire01 the west didnt replace the shah, the iran revolution did, thats why the west has placed heavy sanctions on iran now. Mossadegh wasn’t some democratically elected savior of Iran. He was appointed by The Shah, tried to dissolve parliament, violated Iran’s constitution, silenced opposition, & destroyed the economy. He tried to become a dictator and failed so now he’s a communist pretend hero. Also, the reason why the Shah appointed Mossadegh as a PM was because he himself also wanted the nationalization of Iran's oil but gradually and not abruptly like Mossadegh did, to further gaslight tensions between Iran and the West. Ousting of Mossadegh was not a "coup" either. In political science literature, a coup is defined as "overt attempts by the military or other elites within the state apparatus to unseat the sitting head of state using unconstitutional means." Constitutionally, the King/Shah, not Mossadegh, was the head of state. Furthermore, Article 27 of the Persian Constitution of 1906 had not mentioned the word ”Prime Minister” concerning the realm of power." This post-truth narrative is riddled with nonsense accompanied by traditional Islamic left-wing misinformation. Both the US and UK have admitted their role in Operation Ajax. It's not a secret anymore. But it's easy to fall into the fabricated mainstream media narrative. Actually, thanks to the UK and US admitting their involvement in the so called "coup", Western governments and Western mainstream medias can now proceed in trashing the Pahlavi dynasty furthermore (in the same fashion as the Islamic regime is doing) by creating a ridiculous false narrative to somehow cover their tracks and involvement in the 1979 coup (aka “Islamic revolution”), by parroting the following: "Iranians overthrew the evil dictatorial Shah in 1979 because we Americans toppled their democratically elected saint Mossadegh" Or "The Shah was an evil dictator and Iranians wanted Khomeini because we Americans helped topple their democratically elected hero Mossadegh" That's the kind of false narrative circulating in the media in recent years, where the Shah is portrayed as a foe to the hero Mossadegh. But this isn’t true at all. Between 1953 and 1979, the shah would appoint and dismiss 10 more prime ministers, including Mossadegh twice. Not even the most overheated Iran historian describes these changes as "coups". Calling the whole incident a "coup" is a cliché showing a biased & superficial knowledge of the subject, by parroting the skewed historical accounts fabricated by the embiterred Tudé party and Western media over time to further tarnish the Pahlavi dynasty's reputation. Here is what happened: The Iranian Constitution permitted the Shah/King to dismiss the prime minister in case of dissolution of the parliament which the Prime Minister Mossadegh had dishonorably plotted to pull off. The rigging of the Parliament (Majles) dissolution referendum is one example among many of how "democratically" Mossadegh acted throughout his populist office. Mossadegh received his dismissal letter from the King/Shah 3 days before the incident which he refused. In response, Mossadegh abolished the monarchy of the Pahlavi Dynasty. Bearing that in mind, Mossadegh had staged a COUP against the monarch before he was deposed by a counter-coup on Aug 8, 1953. People need to do better research on Mossadegh. He was definitely no saint nor a hero, and not a man of progress either. Mossadegh strongly opposed the construction of railway lines in Iran and argued that Iran didn't need any railways, roads, or ports because according to him "Iranians didn't need to travel" and could simply stay at home. Mossadegh was also against the modernization of Iran. As an example, he was against the creation of Iran’s first national bank “Bank Melli”: Mossadegh wanted Iran to use the British banks instead. Hypocrite much? And there is even much more to unearth about Mossadegh and what actually happened in August 1953. Another fact that has resurfaced in recent years is Mossadegh's affiliation with the staunchest Islamic terrorists , such as Khomeini and other Ayatollahs. Khomeini was formed and financed by the British in the 1930s (Fedayeen Eslam, equivalent to Muslim Brotherhood), where they all participated in assassinating prominent Iranian secular intellectuals, such as Ahmad Kasravi. One of a high ranking terrorist of the Fedayeen Eslam, Mr Emami, who assassinated Kastavi, was the right hand man of Mossadegh and his private bodyguard. Everyone knew that. He was never prosecuted because Mossadegh freed him during his time as PM. Here is a quote by Mossadegh that went viral as a meme in Iran at the start of the 2022/2023 revolution: "Iranian oil does not belong to Iran alone. It belongs to the Islamic nations." This makes Mossadegh as unpopular as the current Islamic regime occupying Iran. Also, Mossadegh was member of the catastrophic Qâjâr inbred family who basically bended backwards to serve England and are indirectly responsible for the mess Iran is in today. These feudal Qâjâri offspring had a personal beef against the Pahlavi, and Mossadegh was no exception to the rule. The Shah basically took away the land Mossadegh’s unibrowed usurper Qâjâri forefathers stole from Iranians, and he redistributed it to the Iranian farmers. The Shah did that. Not Mossadegh. Actually, it was Mossadegh's party among others who was OPPOSED of the Shah's land reforms, which ultimately benefited the little people, the farmers and peasants. If Mossadegh was a hero and the Shah the bad guy, then how come there's not ONE mention of Mossadegh name in Iran's ongoing revolution? Thousands of Iranians from all over Iran in 2019, in 2021 and today are chanting "Reza Shah, Ruhat Shad" (Bless your soul, King) or "Shah Bargard" (Return, King!). Not ONCE did they mentioned Mossadegh. There is literally not ONE Iranian regime-critic in Iran today mentioning the name "Mossadegh"! And Iranians today are very savvy in debunking myths and doing fact check. Not once, since 1979, has there been Iranian protestors calling the name "Mossadegh". And his nationalization of the oil was done while he was appointed by the Shah himself. The Shah was not against the nationalization of Iran's oil, he litteraly chose Mossadegh as his PM because they wanted the same thing, however Mossadegh wanted an abrupt ending nationalization, while the King/Shah wanted it gradually over time. So, it's high time to stop the vilification of the Shah for once. Mossadegh supporters are mullahs and ayatollahs aka the murderous clerics of Iran. Just as an example, having a portrait of Mossadegh or the Qâjâr kings in your home as an Iranian is not punishable, while the portrait of anything connected to the Pahlavi dynasty is. That's why SO many Iranians today are in prison and have become political activists to begin with. History. They look at history and facts. And how these events have affected their day to day lives. What you non-Iranians don't see, is the truth behind this horrendous propaganda against the King/Shah that has been pestering the West, even 4 decades after his death. And this Mossadegh-CIA story is one of them. The 1953 coup is a fake psy op coup. And if you do the proper research, you will find out that Mossadegh's biggest supporters were Islamic fascists. One of them was actually Khomeini and the rest of the gangs in Najaf, Iraq (The ones occupying Iran right now).

@gamer Well in my opinion Persians usually shoot way above their station, and I can tell you that British politicians + Russian federation put these people in charge Couse the last Shah (king) wasn't giving them enough of his resources, he was also in control of OPEC and could couse even more problems for industrialised countries of Europe if I'm right. By contrast it would be well suited to make this society Muslim or to be exact Religious and put God in their main Focus instead of education or Social Reforms that could make your authority look like a joke to your own brainwashed population. It's all politics that we don't understand fully. + I'm never running for any office in government & not fixing anything... Everything is all good as it stands ☝🏼

Mossadegh the democratically elected leader who preceded Reza Pahlavy was ousted by the CIA because he took back Iran's oil industry which was primarily in the hands of the British, Americans and French and nationalised it. Before the nationalisation Iran was getting only a miniscule percentage of oil revenues. British Petroleum got disgustingly wealthy on the back of Iranian oil. The US was able to take back control of Iranian oil reserves once the pro-West Reza Pahlavi was reinstated. Iran's coffers overflowed with the 1973 oil crisis and instead of investing in infrastructure and in other areas which would have built a sound foundation for Iran's economy, he invested hugely in arms and weapons which were imported from the US. Pahlavi's was to make Iran a super-power in the Middle East. His white revolution did not bring any advantages to rural Iran. More than half the country's population remained poverty ridden. And then the mother of all galas to mark 2500 years of Iranis monarchy.....Pahlavi was also very insecure about the fact that his days of glory were very much dependent on the largesse of the US. That said, the present regime is also a nightmare. Theocracies and autocracies always are. Mohammad Reza's regime was very corrupt and his secret service SAVAK committed huge human rights violations - torturing and killing dissidents. These people were/are disgustingly wealthy. Pahlavi's daily meals used to be flown in on the Concorde from Paris - every single day. While 51 percent of Iran's population was poverty stricken and there was a drought ravaging the country the man celebrated 2500 years of the monarchy by organizing the most expensive party in recorded world history. No Iranians were invited and all the contracts for the preparations went to European countries - mostly France. It was appalling. Reza Pahlavi and Farah work ed for the emanicipation of women ? Farah was the Pahlavi's third wife. He divorced his first two wives because they could not bear him sons. Emanicipated indeed. Also did he even know that the sex of the child is determined by the chromosome configuration of the male and not by that of the female ? Regardless how is this progressive in any sense ? The family fled Iran not because they thought they were doing their country a favour. They ran because they feared for their lives. The Pahlavi line was founded by a non-aristocratic Manzadarin soldier in 1925. So much for all those who believe in dynastic monarchies. The Pahlavis are not descendants of Cyrus by any means. They are arrivistas. Moreover Mohammad Reza Pahlavi himself ascended the throne riding on the CIA's coat-tails - a CIA backed coup for which he was paid a million dollars....laughable. He was a stooge of the Americans. An inept ruler he was. He was also notorious for his infidelities, for his insatiable sexual appetite and for his penchant for tall, blue-eyed European women. The family in exile....Farah lives in a luxurious Paris apartment with live-in domestic help. She has a car, a chauffeur and a body-guard. Valentino sends her his private jet so that she fly to Milan to attend a fashion show. The family has a huge fortune tucked away in Swiss banks and other tax-free havens. Some exile. She prefers to be addressed as Shahbanou and spends her time rmaintaining her "image" as an "empress" . These people are privileged and their lives cannot be compared to those of the simple folk who either stayed back in Iran or had to flee the Khomeini regime. As for losing children to suicide - I completely empathise. But worse things happen to ordinary people. God forbid this family be reinstated as monarchs or given any form of authority ever again. Yes the current regime is a nightmare. A democracy is a healthy alternative. But not a constitutional monarchy.
