They did Batman dirty in this game. Imagine being excited by the epilogue of Arkham Knight after 120%ing your first play through, seeing him utilize the fear toxin in order to terrify criminals who think he’s dead, effectively immortalizing himself in their minds… just to see him get brainwashed by Brainiac, turned into a lame ass boss fight, and then be executed by Harley in the most uncharacteristic way possible. There are no tears from the audience (there aren’t meant to be since you’re supposed to route for Harley. Crazy, I know.), there is no emotional send off to this version of Batman, he’s just dead and you’re supposed to cheer for the Squad as they continue their quest to stop Brainiac. I’ve heard this joke before in other media, and it wasn’t funny the first time.

Green Lantern being mind-controlled (aka losing his will) and still having his ring, and being able to use his powers is very telling about people who were writing this game. Not even gonna mention the deaths of other characters.

With how they treat Arkham Batman and the entire Arkham universe after 15 years, a 45% is way too generous for this game.

Imagine fighting some of the most powerful, god-like heroes in all of comic book history and all you do is shoot them with guns. What a tragedy.

Literally they kill the characters with the most disrespect, all these amazing superhero’s who have beaten everything in there way, and they get killed by bullets

I remember when people were hyped as hell for this game. Then the pause menu got leaked. All four of the Squad members had guns (Not just Deadshot, THE GUN GUY), there was a generic bar at the top with options like Loadout, there were icons for several different currencies... the writing was on the wall from the beginning that this was going to be a live service looter shooter with no care taken for the writing. Everyone could immediately tell from that one leaked screenshot that the game was not coming anywhere CLOSE to living up to the Arkham games, and they never even tried to damage control or try to tease something people might enjoy about it. Rocksteady knew they had shit on their hands, and they were just looking for someone to wipe it on.

The fact that this story takes place in the Arkhamverse really makes this game so much worse. If it was its own universe entirely, it'd still fall short of Rocksteady's quality in storytelling & gameplay, but it wouldn't be an insult to their legacy.

Weird thing is I saw the final boss cutscene and was like "Oh cool, he'll be a mashup of all the previous bosses"... and then he stayed as the Flash... for the entire fight...

I’m so upset about how they did Arkham Batman’s story, I’m still in shock at this moment at how disrespectful to this series the writers are. They could’ve made him have a heroic sacrifice ending, make him say something memorable. Instead they put him on a chair and shot him.

The most hilarious thing I've heard about the game so far is that "it was doomed the second Rocksteady thought the Suicide Squad could kill the Justice League." But it's true. The game would have actually been fun if it made you feel like cannon fodder against nearly impossible odds fighting the Justice League. Nearly scraping out wins by the tiniest imaginable margins with the help of Lexcorp gadgets reverse-engineered from alien tech or weird combinations of C and D-tier character abilities. Instead, it's just dull, unimaginative slop.

Imagine this game if you played as Batman using his contingency plans to incapacitate the rest of the justice League and then when finally fighting Brainiac, they are all freed from his mind control and the Justice League brings him down together

The problem with this game is that the concept alone is a missed opportunity. Like, think about it, why do people like the suicide squad? Because unlike other hero teams that mostly stick with a similar roster of established heroes, the suicide squad is a team made up of misfits who the writers could kill off if they wanted to because they weren't all that popular. Part of what's great about the suicide squad is how ballsy it is. It's a series that gets you attached to these misfit heroes all while never revealing who will live and who will die. When you have a live service multiplayer game you can't really kill off members of your team because a player might prefer one character's play style and get mad if they can no longer play as them. Especially in a game where they are fighting the most powerful superheroes in the DC universe, there should have been a lot more deaths within the team for this story to work.

I think the reason why escort missions are used so much is because for the game developers, it’s the easiest thing to develop. You put the intended target to protect on a path from start to finish, give it a health bar and that’s it. The player then has to do all the work in protecting the target until the mission is complete.

I find it VERY convenient that Wonder Woman was the only one to avoid brainiacs control, die with sad music in the background, and not have her corpse defiled

If you told me a few years ago Kevin Conroy's last performance as Batman would be in a Rocksteady Arkham project, well I wouldn't exactly have been happy that the Batman I grew up with would die early, but I would've been at peace thinking the end of his multi-decade performance as the Caped Crusader was in good hands. And boy would I have been wrong.

I don't get why Warner Brothers are trying so hard for the Suicide Squad to become the next Guardians of the Galaxy. They just aren't even coming close to that quality.

Rocksteady is like that father figure you adored as a child who left to get milk for some reason, only to come back years later, late into your adulthood as a drunk crack addicted asshole who asks you for money because you and him -are- were _"family"_

I think the tough part going into this game from a mechanical stand point was the characters. With someone like Batman, you know what you have to accomplish - stealth, gadgets, hand-to-hand combat, investigations, gliding. I’m not saying that’s easy to achieve, but you have a roadmap. A character like Captain Boomerang is simultaneously simple and vague. You know that he has to be able to throw a boomerang. Alright, what now? Also, you need to program his three buddies who don’t throw boomerangs and rely on completely different skill sets and styles.

- Unpopular opinion ig, but I happen to enjoy this game. I went through all of the story and am “legend” level 17, or whatever they call it. The dialogue was humorous to me, the gameplay was exciting yet it can be argued as repetitive, and the graphics and polish were up to standards. I didn’t experience any glitches expect two minor ones. My only complaint is all of the boss fights deaths felt underwhelming honestly, especially Superman, which led to a sense of disappointment; although, I do happen to believe that the ways in which they actually counter the justice league made somewhat sense, or portrayed as cop outs. - While the missions may be rinse and repeat, I think the gameplay makes up for its shortcomings. - For each season, if the games lifespan spreads across its intended lifetime, will add a new playable character, completely new play area, and new equipment, etc. My speculation is that the reason we see so few justice league members is that either there will HOPEFULLY be more that appear, or as someone else said we could have killed false versions of the jl. This could also have something to do with brainiacs repeated moveset, because I imagine each brainiac will bring a new set of skills. - My last point is while the Batman of the Arkham series, as much as I know about him, was undeniably a beast (I know some of his feats), he has never against someone as powerful as brainiac, and Arkham Batman is more of a brawler than a detective. Brainiac, as he exists, probably thought out his plan for months, then enacted his onslaught upon metropolis without warning, maybe brainwashing Batman first. People can say what they want. I like it lol.

For this i was expecting there to be a mission that starts out as an escort mission, but the person you're escorting quickly dies, so a funny still comes up where everyone shrugs and it says "Plan B" on the screen and you just have to transport the corpse, but a few minutes later, the corpse explodes, so a screen shows them all face palming and reads "Plan C" and you have to take something else to the mission's end. I would've loved for them to lean into the suicide squad vibe with all the missions and kind of turn your typical standard video game missions on their head. But no, we got micro transactions, escort missions, hit the thing 3 times, and shoot the glowing thing. 😓

Don't know why they just didn't have you face off Batman. Have him Gain back enough sanity that he gives you his neutralization list. Then from there you use those instructions to incapacitate the members.

Imagine this game as a modern take on the formula of Shadow of Colossus. The city is in ruins, the streets are empty except for the Justice league turned evil, each patrolling their areas of the city looking for any sign of life to stomp it out. It’s up to our ragtag group of villains turned hero’s to take them down one by one as the explore a vast and ruined city, unsure which of these demigods has them in their sights. It’s a shame they dropped the ball so hard in the boss fights in a game called “kill the Justice League”, that should have been the main focus.

All jokes aside about the characters and bosses, except for king shark. Holy hell the guy seems in his element in the air! Can’t wait until there’s a water level. Guys?

I felt like the boss fights wouldve been better if they were more one on one, like Captain Boomerang fighting Flash can switch into a chase style fight were you dodge and weave, fast react and punish while racing across the map. Or Deadshot being the only one that steel himself enough to try and take down Batman with stealth, rebounding shots, tactical environmental damage to expose him more. You know, making them interesting and different from the rest of the gameplay.

The quippy stuff every two minutes would drive me nuts. I liked Guardians of the Galaxy convos because they weren't always trying to make jokes and were just sometimes talking about regular stuff, and at times would be funny without forcing it to the point that sometimes i would hang around places just to hear them talk more. the only convos i never liked were during the fights where it was constant ''look out, watch out, look out, need help, theres a bad guy'' and Suicide Squad jokes constantly would drive me as bonkers as Guardians fight dialogue
