As the former owner of a millwork business that made stile and rail doors I enjoyed watching this video. I hope he left enough room for the panels to float otherwise there will be some problems with them.

Nice work!Good looking spindle/mortiser,looks like a griggio!I've never made doors using dowel in the tennons I always mortise the whole way through the styles then use wedges! But I think ill definitely try this in the future

John Riggenbach you don’t glue the panels in the rails and stiles. You want them to be able to move with humidity changes. Also, astounding workmanship? You are easily astounded. All the joinery here was done by big rigid expensive machines. Lots of guys do this all by hand. That’s way more astounding.

Love the video! No goofy and distracting music or fancy editing. Just raw skill. As a man once said "He has the tools... and he has the talent!" Though I suspect that health & safety officials might have something to say about your choice of footwear. ;-)

out of that video you only picked up on footwear? as a wood worker I was cringing at some of the free hand spindle work! great build though but i will stick to sleds and auto feed units :)

Always amazing watching a master craftsman/artisan at work... Now I'll just head out to HD with a $200k tool budget; Apprentice for 25yesrs (just to maintain tolerances during materials removal) and... No wait, at my age I'll be dead by then and I've already mortgaged my home twice. Thoroughly enjoyed watching the entire process!

An excellent demonstration of what has been a valued craft in years gone by and a shame that, today, in a 'want it now' society, we forget that quality is worth waiting for and this, ultimately is what the current generation don't realise is the way to reduce landfill and create sustainability!

While I agree that it's a shame this quality is rare now... I completely disagree that it's because we "want it now." In the USA, this door would cost thousands of dollars to make. That's why no one does it. They can't afford it.

Awesome shop. Using the shaper was a bit scary to me, you need a guard on that shaper. Excellent work - especially the mortise and tenon on the rails and styles. .

26 minutes and 13 seconds ago I was wondering if I could build a door like this in my garage shop. The answer is yes, but my goodness that man has skill. It would take me 1,000 attempts to produce something comparable in beauty. Great work my friend.

A very nice door. Great video. we only saw the dry assembly. Did you glue the mortise and tenon joints? Did you glue the panels or leave them floating?
