Claire Veneault-Fourrey is an INREA Research Director and plant pathologist.
In this video she will tell us about the establishment of the functional tree mycorrhiza, that requires a strict coordination of development, immunity and physiology of both fungal and plant cells, as well as communication with the full microbiome. Claire reports how comparative genomics, transcriptomics and functional genomics helped to decipher molecular mechanisms underlying mutualistic tree-fungal interactions using Populus / Laccaria bicolor as a model. She will also provide perspectives on how bridging molecular mechanisms and microbial ecology should be used to better understand how root microbiome modify/ maintain tree’s performance.
