yess! something i’ve learned is you don’t need lots of friends you really only need one you can trust and are close to. you also don’t need to be with other people to have a good time. enjoying your own company is really good for you. 💗

I’m 16. I talk to my mom about everything and my relationship with my mom is like yours. My mom is my best friend. I’m in an early college where I’m not black enough for black kids and I’m too black for the non black kids. I don’t feel like I fit in any where. I still talk and get along with everybody, but I don’t have a particular friend group or a best friend. I also refused to change or pretend to be someone else or something I’m not just to gain friends or a best friend. My mom said she only has 1 real friend and she considers that lucky. You just have to love yourself and stay true to yourself. Everything else will fall in place when it’s supposed to. I hope y’all mom and daughter relationship continue to thrive. ❤❤❤

i totally understand allison, it’s so hard to find a genuine bsf bc it’s easy to call people your friends but are they genuinely your friends yk? some people will make you feel weird about it but it’s normal to not have a bsf

Alison you are young, friends come and go. I got emotional when you teared up. We all want that. For someone to be considered a best friend is earned not given. But I completely agree, the older you get you can count your true friends in the palm of your hand. You will meet people and you will see who is true and who isn’t. So many people are jealous, or want to be better than the other person, but in reality true friendships will lift each other up and better each other. Your mom will always be your best cheerleader and best friend. Never doubt that. And to have that kind of relationship is special because not many have that with their mom. You have a whole life ahead. The real people will always be there for you.

My 16 year old is going through the same thing. She lost her girlfriends because she’s been dating her boyfriend now. Friendships and relationships change. True colors come out. Her best friend changed when she started dating. 😢 She cries too. Luckily she has one she still hangs with to get some girl time. ❤ You’re so sweet Allison, I’m sure you’ll meet some more friends next school year. I’m hoping my daughter will meet new friends next year too. ❤ I agree… Your mom and sister are your best friends!! I tell my daughter the same! Luckily she has sisters and me! ❤

That sounds like me I’m 16 and I started dating my bf in January of 2020 and I lost all my friends because I got a bf. One of them stopped talking to me for like a whole month out of no where so I didn’t know what was wrong but I was balancing talking to both of them cuz she was the one friend I was closest with. Then like a month later she texted me and told me she would be friends with me again if I left my bf. I didn’t expect me and my bf to last long but I still stuck with him because if she was a real friend she wouldn’t make me choose. She would just be happy for me. And I felt happier without her I felt free to talk to whoever I want and when I want. But just a couple weeks ago she tried being my friend again saying how I was such a good friend and she missed me a lot and I just said “ok thanks” because I wasn’t trying to go through that again.

I’m 20 but in middle school and High School I only had like two real friends because the other ones were fake would constantly talk crap and it was just jealousy thing going on but I never entertained it I never let people get the best of me but when you graduate your going to see who was real friend who wasn’t.

This is an advice for Alison! Girl! I can relate to you so bad! I had a “best friend” since 3rd grade her name was Jocelyn and we grew up together! I also had another “best friend” name A I don’t want to put her name out there😅. But she showed me that she wasn’t my real friend because at the end of the day she ruined me mentally and emotionally. Now, you will find your best friend maybe not now but later on in life! Just know that in this life there are no “real best friends” your mom is forever going to be your best friend! Trust me! I’ve been in your place and it does feel sad but soon you’ll get use to your own company and just do things on your own! It’s ok girl! Don’t cry🫶🏼 I love your personality and how outgoing you are! 🫶🏼

I was just like Ali when she talked about having a best friend I literally cried. But then I reconnected with one of my closest friends tht we drifted apart due to just busy lives. My best friends are literally Selena and kaitlyn . I had to realize u don’t have to see these ppl all the time to be friends

I have been blessed with best friends. When I lived in DR, my best friend until 8th grade is Maria Elsa. I moved to the USA and we drifted apart but we still talk. Then in high school here, my best friend was Vivian until she passed away from cancer 4 years ago. However I have two best friends that I can’t be without. Their names are Betty and Kim.

I have 8 best friends and I had 2 fake friends. To be fair tho, only 2 of them really grew up with me. 3 of them were older than me but still kinda grew up with me and 3 of them I met more so recently but it feels like I've know them forever. I feel soo bad for Ali but it's never too late to build life long bonds with people. She's only thinking abt how much life has already passed but she has to start thinking abt how much time she has left (which I get isn't garunteed) but think abt the amount of time you could have based on the average life span. It's so much time to meet people.

My best friend and I have been friends since we were 2 years old And we turn 26 this summer but we went from 2015-2022 with no contact and when we met up in November it was like nothing changed but apart from him I don’t have any other best friends I do have a lot of really great friends but at Alison’s age I only had like 3 friend.
