She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAC.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro

Here’s a little history on the trauma Genki and Momo endured after each boy was born. Not being to breastfed a baby on your own does not mean you didn’t raise a child. What about in humans who adopt? Do they not raise their child without breastfeeding?? After a miscarriage at another zoo, they moved her to Momotaro and she got pregnant happily with Gentaro. She wasn’t producing as much milk as Gentaro needed, so they took Gentaro from her and Momo for 10.5 months and raised him. She could only touch him in between bars. They would not understand that, why is their baby gone and they can only touch him through bars? How would any sentient creature feel? Yes, we know she didn’t have enough breast milk to feed on her own. Then came Kintaro, same breast milk issue, although they gave her teas that human women use too. She was afraid they’d take Kintaro from her, so she wouldn’t let go of him. They gave Kintaro supplemental food by syringe while she held him at bars. I know, this is way more than you cared to hear, I’m sure, but I’ve been researching this family, it’s my first deep dive on this gorilla family unit, and Genki has my heart, as people on here will call her greedy, or fat, etc. Really? People are fat shaming the gorilla matriarch like she is a human. She’s perfect, a good mom, and tries to stand up for herself. And she climbs quite a bit. I can't tell if Kintaro's still taking his mother's milk. If he's still nursing, Genki is likely not pregnant. I thought he was fully weaned at the beginning of the year...so🤞 maybe we'll get another baby gorilla later this year 😊 (I hope it's a baby girl) I must admit I worry about Kintaro getting a younger sibling. With Gentaro as his role model, he may play too rough with the infant or may become jealous when he can't have Genki to himself. Kintaro is still very clingy with Mom and acts out to get attention. I'm hoping Kintaro will be like his Uncle Rikki; they're one year apart in age. However, Rikki is more mature than Kintaro. Gentaro's a great big brother, although when Kintaro was 1-2 yrs old, I worried each time he would charge, grab, and drag in the dirt Kintaro 😅 looking back now, I can laugh at it. Love this 🦍 family ❤

Mais Kintaro est aussi très demandeur. Cela lui permet de voler quelques feuilles sur la branche de Genki qui l'accepte presque toujours. On voit aussi que l'heure de la sieste, est le moment des câlins entre Genki et Kintaro, très tendre avec lui. Kintaro la serre dans ses bras ou se blottit tout contre elle. Ce sont des moments magiques et c'est beau.

Kintaro won't be forcefully separated from Genki. In terms of a child gorilla's social development, they become more independent from their mothers between ages 3-5 years. During that time, the child gorilla is weaned from their mother's milk, begins eating/foraging on their own, and may even sleep separately, etc. It's a natural part of Kinnie growing up 😊❤

He was stting at the same spot for mins like a statue. Because of the reflection by the sunlight, at times during this season, it is difficult to flim them especially when they are in the shade.

Dann löschte er aber seinen Kommentar und meine Antwort mit. 🤷🙆 Die Sonne 🌞 ist jetzt sehr intensiv, wenn sie scheint. Das führt dann zu starken Reflexionen. Leider ist das Wetter derzeit sehr wechselhaft und die Sonne kommt und geht. Ich freue mich schon auf den Frühling. In Japan ist die Kirschblüte besonders schön. 🌺😍
