God bless her for this project. Given her history in Hollywood, she has seen this stuff first-hand; she knows what she is fighting for.

I've lived in both Arkansas and California, and I am not surprised that Arkansas rocked California on child protection laws. Both states have their good and bad, but bureaucracy and worrying more about protecting criminals then victims is definitely a California short coming!

I was molested by my father. I was very angry for a long time. It wasnt until one of my housemoms explained to me that I was the only one suffering from being so angry and the only way to be free from him was to forgive him. Forgiving him wasnt for him, it was for me. It set me free from him forever. Forgiving someone does NOT mean you have to go live with them again. I have not and will not even speak to him again unless he gets serious help and my superiors agree it is okay.

@143AC while I wouldn't trust any child or vulnerable person around an abuser, but I do beleive one can forgive without putting others in harms way again. Forgiving does not mean giving that person the opportunity to do it again to another person.

Nellie Oleson, the biggest bully on TV, fights bigger bullies in real life. I love it!

Being angry at someone, holding a grudge, for something someone did to you, isn't hurting them, it only hurts you. And it doesn't take an apology to forgive :). Forgiveness is what sets people free from those that hurt them.

Selah YES!! My dad always taught us that unforgiveness is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. The ONLY soul that it destroys is YOURS!

it takes a while to get over something that hurts (whether physically or psychologically), and sometimes people need psychiatric counselling in combination with prayer to be able to forgive (and forget to a certain degree)...

she seems like such a nice person. she played nellie olsen so well, i was shocked she was so nice in real life. good for her for doing this, too many pedophiles out there getting away with this. and i grew up watching little house, now my daughter also watched it on DVD. she loves it. and nellie olsen is her favorite character. LOL

@143AC I'm a little confused by your comments. My main concern is protecting children. Adults have the freedom of choice to heal from the pain of their childhood. You said the cops did nothing when your father and brother beat the hell out of you. If you've healed from that experience - good - then the cycle of abuse is broken. Way to go!

Death penalty would clear out alot of these messes. For the record, I don't like the To Catch A Predator show, it got people a little paranoid. Also, a lot of the men who get caught are often baited with older teenage girls. Even though its officially illegal, its also one of those gray areas that really prod the mind. I'm more concerned with rape, incest, and sex under 13. Hangable offenses.

@143AC I'm working on a book called "Searching for an Apology" If you'd be interested in being interviewed I'd love to go after your father and brother to get their response. It would be my pleasure.

Good for Alison. Have to add though, it's annoying that stereotyping and prejudice it's always considered bigoted, unless you target the South. Do these people realize how nasty and hypocritical they sound?? It doesn't surprise me at all that Arkansas got it together faster than California. It's a less bureaucratic state.

what do you expect, most southern states are super regressive
