March of the Machine previews officially ended this morning, with Wizards giving us the famous common dump! There were close to 100 cards released today, so Dev sifts through the chaff to show off the absolute best cards from the deluge of commons!

Worth noting that Atraxa's Fall doesn't transform your battles, so its main use is still to destroy your opponent's battles, unless you want to get your battle in the graveyard for permanent recursion interactions.

@@JasonOshinko Yes, but that is a *very* easy mistake to make, especially when we'll all be playing against battles for the first time.

As I understood, battles only "transform" when they are defeated (lose all defense counters). Destroy, sacrifice or leaves the battlefield will not "transform" them...

you'll have to use cards like heartless act or vampire hexmage if you want to cheese flip battles.

Saiba Cryptomancer is an amazing Fable of the Mirrorbreaker target. The token ETBs and functionally casts Snakeskin Veil.

If you have a 1-drop, you can get a 3/2 Halo Hopper out on turn 2. Not bad, and 3 damage will help take down battles faster.

Saiba Crypto is like a combat trick and a mana reducer (convoke) all in one. In other uses it can be sacrificed without batting an eye. It's a really good card.

It also has an advantage over a card like Shore Up in that it is an answer to edict effects such as Sheoldred or Invoke Despair if you are trying to protect a more important creature.

It will have many uses, it's a good card design. Imagine if it had convoke slapped on to it as well. It would of been completely broken and banned in no time.

Saiba Cryptomancer seems like it slots in well to a few decks for limited. It's nice in the +1/+1 counters deck, and a 2 mana guy that saves another guy sounds very good for the convoke deck

There are actually more vigilant creatures in the set than usual I think because it combos with Convoke, there are 16 creatures that come with vigilance as a baseline in MOM according to a quick count I did on Scryfall and only 8 in ONE, plus the Knight tokens a bunch more cards make come with vigilance

For sure a surprising amount a creatures with vigilance, they did the same thing in Guilds of Rav with Selesnya when they had console. One of the reasons GW was powerful in that standard.

Cut short is pretty good with convoke around as well also if you out right destroy a battle without removing the counters it doesn't get cast

Can't wait to see Dev's next video where he swaps his takes on Fall vs Hunger because he got it backwards which one flips your battle. Dev is so nice, humble and generous. We should all get together and butter baste and then eat him.

Yo! Burning Sun’s Fury looks tight! Can’t wait for prowess goodness with Mentor. One downfall is even tho it’s instant you’d have to use it main phase to get the hasty boys to attack!

Those Red instant/ Flash cards are juicy IMO. Forget about Fire Prophecy in your Izzet Creativity Pioneer deck. Green based battles seems way more interesting suddenly. Pretty neat commons to be honest, though I've never thought that a crypto bro would be able to convoke my attention. Weird ;)

So does atraxas fall transform the battle when you destroy it? If so do all destroy target permanent effects transform a battle and how about exile target permanent effects when targeting a battle?

nope. a battle only transforms when it loses all its defense counters. use Atraxa's Fall on your opponents' battles that they play on you.

Describes what I've been feeling for a bit. So many of the cards are just weaker versions of cards that already exist and we're not really getting our money's worth. Would explain why they're including the lottery cards again. Can the game just crash and burn already so someone else can swoop in and do it the right way and make some original stuff for once in like 30 years besides the battle cards
