I was in middle school when MJ’s Thriller came out and people went crazy. “Billie Jean” was one of the first videos by a black artist played on MTV (I think Prince’s “1999 “ was the first). After the “Billie Jean” video came out, MTV increased airing videos by other black artists. “Thriller” was huge! I remember some kids at school wearing the iconic red jacket(or copies, rather). It was exciting to be in that time! I feel like an old woman though, when I have to tell all this stuff to my kid because she has no idea!

Absolutely! JHope absolutely ADORES MIchael (his moves) also Jimin and JK were dancing to MJ "Black or White" in one of their shows and THEY ALL love these funky music also rapping they are into it so it is only natural that they pay tribute to all these. They were taught in the past how to move and rap by Coolio (it was in their early beginning in the show American Hustle) and it is as I said because they LOVE this kind of old school hip and rap and funky sounds themselves.

Your MOM is EVERYTHING! There is an interview and Suga says the MV is 70/80's. In the beginning, there is a Beatles poster that was included as well to give love and respect. Did you hear the reference when Tae says Off the Wall MJ's album and then did an MJ move? There is an interview with Taj Jackson and he says he loves the tribute they made to Michael. He also said Michael would have loved them and would have worked with them. I know in my heart that would have happened. I agree with what was said about artists who have used MJ's moves. Some people have said that's someone move and I'm no that's Michael's. That Time magazine said in a caption under a picture that Jimin was Suga. I wasn't going to drop a dime on that mess!

It's one of the reasons why they are dressed in 70's outfits, including those god awful bell bottoms. (And please don't come after fir saying that. I lived thru it the first time..and yes I mean the 70s. I hated them then, can't stand them...on anyone!) They also contacted the Jackson family to ask permission to use his iconic kick and moonwalk. They wanted thos song to uplift all us in this time...and personally it has. This style of music is the style I grew up on. *MY ALL TIME FAVORITE REACTION* Love this family, when you said you had watched it twice and IT JUST MADE YOU HAPPY..."maybe not the best BTS song ever"...but it MADE YOU HAPPY...I've watched the MV probably two dozen times in the last few days, and EVERY time I find myself just filled with joy, and BTS LOOKS SO HAPPY TOO!!! { and your Mom has the prettiest smile in the world } Thank you for this video. Honestly...thank you.

This is great. BTS learned a lot about the Temptations for stage performance and music. The study music of many eras, but black/soul music in general is what they connect with the most. If you look at on of their interviews (Apple music) they put this song out to connect with their fans through the hard times and give them joy and energy. The message is I still have to get up in the morning everyday and sieze the opportunity to make something good out of it. It id definitely happy vibes. We love it.

BTS tease us with hints about their combacks weeks before the actual comeback. They've been wearing clothes with Michael Jackson on them and posting pictures of their Michael Jackson belongings in the background. Also Black and older ARMYs are educating younger and newer ARMYs about Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5 on twitter. Lots of memes showing the choreo side by side.

Yup, I was gonna comment on the side-by-side choreo comparison memes. Also putting MJ's dancing to Dynamite audio. 😊💜

They went 90's too with a lot of the clothes. Especially at the end. It was definitely a pop tribute. Just a very upbeat, positive vibe.

So I'm not sure if you or your Mom caught it, but the move they do where it looks like they are combing their hair is an iconic Michael Jackson move from the Billie Jean performances. Also in Teahyung's verse he says " like we Off The Wall" is a nod to MJ's first solo album "Off The Wall". Lol but I love that y'all noticed all the MJ inspiration and showed the King major respect!

What a great reaction!!!...Mom is so so right!! She understands all the referrals. And yes, this video is a tribute to Michael Jackson. BTS anoununced it before the release of the video. Respect to Mom for all the comments...😊

Your mom’s right. This is a homage to MJ. 70’s,80’s and early 90’s funky vibe. They just wanted to bring good vibes, energy and happiness to uplift everyone in this pandemic. Great reaction with your mom! More BTS reactions please

Watching your reaction and your Mom's had me smiling because I have always been proud to be black. I grew up with MJ in my household, so loving BTS and MJ, I definitely noticed their funk based elements. Of course some may think this isn't their BEST song, but during COVID this makes me so happy to be alive, here in this generation, just like every other ARMY in the world.
