I worked as an assistant to a vet, and rule #1 - cover their eyes! No matter the animal. It helps calm them in all kinds of situations! Also, for small animals it is safest for them and us if they are put in a snuggle sack that keeps arms and legs secure inside. At the very least, wrapped tightly in larger bath towel - again, to help secure arms and legs safety.
