In this Science (Physics) video in Hindi for Class 9 we explained and defined momentum (linear momentum). It is a topic from chapter 9 - ' Force and Laws of Motion' from NCERT.
Momentum a body is the product of the mass of that body and its velocity. As velocity is a vector quantity, momentum is also a vector quantity. Momentum of a body has direction same as that of its velocity. The S.I. unit of momentum is kg m/s (kilogram metre per second).
Momentum has several applications in Physics. Most notably, it is used in the law of conservation of linear momentum. It means when a collision among several bodies occur, the total momentum of those bodies before and after collision remains the same. We are going to use the concept of momentum in the topic of Newton's second law of motion.

Hello Abhishek, Yes, as far as I can recall. The name “dikakht” was usually mispronounced as “des cartes” and led to the name ‘cartesian’.

It's pretty easy though.. for example presume that mass is 0kg.. & v is 5m/s .. Then if we take the formula m+v, then we'll get 5kg.m/s But 0kg mass means there will be 0 momentum.. But if we add m & v we won't get that 0.. Like if we take 0kg mass, that means no object, no object no momentum, no momentum means 0 momentum but by the formula of m+v we still get momentum... So that likely, the formula isn't m+v.. Now let's discuss why it isn't m-v.. again same.. Let's take mass 0kg.. Velocity 5m/s By m-v formula, momentum will be -5kg.m/s No mass, no object How can nothing have a momentum..?ask yourself... If we take division, sometimes the result gets to infinity.. I can't give eg.. I'm just in class 6.. not that much knowledge... So now let's m×v formula.. Then let's take 0kg mass.. So we can understand if we take 0kg mass, means no object, no object means no momentum.. .•. 0 momentum.. So in this formula (mv) where multiplication is done.. Let's see.. Mass 0kg Velocity let's say 5m/s .•. momentum-- 0×5 kg.m/s => 0kg.m/s So only multiplication does the work.. That's why we use multiplication.. Still I'd recommend to ask any teacher as I'm not that experienced & am too in class 6.. may be I may have concept problem.. but what I know, I let you know above.. Hope that helps... Edit: note... Don't forget to confirm with a experienced teacher! + Take the velocity mentioned above in any direction.. let's say North 🙂

@@Jee_ne_aukat_dikha_di your explanation is totally correct....if u don't mind then I can give an example of not using m÷v...... • Ex1 Let suppose ,m=0kg & v= 5 m/s So according to our assumption i.e m÷v 👉0÷5 Which is equal to 0 So here we got ans right??But wait.. let's take another example to check again ------------------------------------------------ •Ex.2 Let suppose now, m=5kg & v=0 (means objest is at rest) Now according to our assumption i.e m÷v 👉5÷0 But this is wrong equation... We can't divide any no. To 0 bcuz the ans is infinite..........If u want u can check on calculator too!!! Hope this help U to clear this concept .........and also thank you so much bcuz I understand only bcuz of u.....❤️🥰🥰🥰
