*Sad Story* I was allowed to have Bratz dolls. However, my mother was a single parent and didn’t have much money. I’ve gotten 10 Bratz and 2 monster high dolls when I was little , however my mother had a tumor on her brain and had fell behind on bills because she was sick. Soon she was hit with an eviction letter, only having 24 hours to move. I had to throw away a couple of my Bratz dolls while some went to the storage unit. After a while, my mom couldn’t afford the unit anymore, so she had to let it go. It was 2013, so it was around the time Bratz was going to be discontinuing. But when the Bratz came back in 2015, my mom and I were living in an apartment and she could afford dolls. My mom and I are now in a 2 bedroom house and started collecting dolls again! I’m a bit scared of telling my friends because I don’t want them to think I’m werid. Anyways! I’m m so excited for the Bratz to comeback! I don’t have much dolls but I’m trying my best to collect The Bratz stood out to me because I’m I can see black representation that wasn’t stereotypical, I can see my self in Sasha! Plus she’s a beautiful,

Don’t ever be ashamed of the things that make you happy! Look at it this way; some people collect teacups and aren’t afraid to share. Some people collect lawn flamingos or those porcelain commemorative plates or antique paper weights. Whatever! If dolls make you happy and brings back happier moments from your past, get them! We spend so much energy worrying about what someone else thinks of us when, in truth, it’s not that big of a deal and never will be. All that matters is how great your heart is, and I can already tell you’re a wonderful person. Plus, if a friend thinks you’re weird for reminiscing, either they’re not a true friend or they have something about themselves they’re afraid to admit. Bless you and your amazing mother!

My mom was overall "doll free" when I was a kid besides any Barbie that was a ballerina. I always wanted Bratz and My Scene and Monster high but was NEVER allowed. When I was 13 I begged my mom to let me get monster high dolls and the flood gates opened. I've been collecting for five years on and off but never while Bratz were active. This channel was what really got me into dolls circa 2013 (The Pinkie Pie first Equestria Girls doll was the first video I saw). Now I have an extensive Rainbow High/ LOL OMG/NaNaNa Surprise collection. I can't wait to get these dolls and finally live out my childhood dreams!

I was instead of “bratz free” i was in a home that allowed both bratz and myscene dolls. funny thing is, i like both franchises and could tell the difference between the two. Bratz was street style, myscene was glam and glitter. Bratz were curvy and short, myscenes were tall and slim. I loved them both and was sad when myscene was gone. But i do know of house holds who were anti bratz and i was sad when i heard that they didn’t like bratz cuz at the time, i couldn’t understand why. But now i can enjoy any doll franchise i want so YAY!

I definitely get what you mean linking Bratz to Monster High because while they obviously aren't directly responsible to each other - in the same way My Scene and Bratz are - it's Bratz success in general that has always forced mattel to push itself forward in time/representation. I remember reading articles about this from doll bloggers back in the early 2000s about how it was nice to see the minority characters be treated as equals instead of just dolls in color variants of whatever Barbie had. By making everyone important and different it forced mattel to push itself to do the same and as time has gone on that led to things from monster high to the vast array of skintones, body types and body representations that fashionista employs and in general the setting of a model standard that diversity can sell has only been a good thing. Now it's not just one shade of black girl or one standard asian ethnicity as a representative but all and everything in between. I have to squeeze them into my budget but definitely have earmarked at least Yasmin and Sasha from this wave to hopefully come home with me once they hit target and the like.

Can't say I'm a Bratz fan and I don't intend to buy any, but I totally agree that they were breakthrough dolls back then. I remember passing doll aisles at a large store in the early 2000s, and Bratz immediately caught my eye. I was amazed at how cool they were and how drastically they differed from an average pink and bland Barbie. And yeah, I remember the public outcry, and "Bratz-free homes" were a thing in my home country too! Which is so ridiculous, because now they do look very tame in comparison with the latest doll lines. Thank you for your thoughts Melissa, it's always such a pleasure to listen to you!

When she turned around 16/17 she gave them all to us, we were so excited to have so many fashion forward friends to play with! Then monster highs were released I was soooo excited about them and I begged my mum to buy me a monster high doll, I was coming up with scenarios where the bratz would get super shocked to come across monster and how they all came across their differences and became best friends. Hahahah good times 😌

Growing up I wasn’t allowed to have bratz because of their attitude and how hey were literally called brats, as my parents thought it would encourage bad behavior. When the mh website was released, my best friend and I were obsessed and would always watch the webisodes. I was terrified my mom wasn’t gonna approve of them. For my birthday that year, mh just came out and my friend got me the og draculaura. I talked with my mom and she was cool with mh. She bought me several dolls and encouraged it. When I tried getting rid of them several times, my mom recognized all they got me through and refused to let me donate them. When the 2015 bratz came out I had the money to buy them without anyone stopping me, and I loved them and took them everywhere with me. For my birthday, my mom even got me a whole bunch of fashion packs she found while traveling. I’m fortunate my mom was able to learn and change because dolls have taught me so much and I don’t know who I would be without them. They also helped me get through bullying and my mental health in middle school and some of high school, and even to this day they help me. I’m not sure I’d be alive if I didn’t have them and I love to share my knowledge with my parents even if they don’t really care about dolls! Side note: my moms rule wasn’t super reinforced because when I was little I loved baths and I always have loved mermaids and somone(I’m pretty sure it was her) got me this bratz babyz mermaid cove play set and I loved it so much! Edit: my birthday is in July so I’m gonna ask for them for my birthday!

I’ve only ever had two Bratz, ‘cos I was just growing out of playing with dolls when they came out, but I’m still really fond of them. Might snag one or two of these as company for my Yasmin and Chloe. 🥰

I wasn’t able to get Bratz because of their price. I grew to love Bratz and KZfaq definitely helped with my knowledge and obsession. I was able to get 2 dolls from the b-Bratz line since they were being sold at kiosk. I now thrift Bratz and have an ever growing collection. I’m excited to see and get all the new Bratz 20 anniversary dolls

Growing up, Barbie was cute and I still enjoy watching her movies till this day, they bring a lot of nostalgia and comfort, but for the dolls, never owned one. Bratz always owned my heart, I always watched the tv show and new movies and played the games online on the website (don't get me started on their albums) and when I was finally allowed to choose and pay for my own doll (my family was pretty homophobic and had the mentality that boys should not have dolls and any chance of someone actually buying me one on their own free will was not likely) I was so happy and excited. These dolls have more meaning to me than any other toy I had because for once, I felt seen and they helped show that its okay to be different and to express myself passionately and freely. The minute I see them in the toy aisles, I'm getting a Sasha and Yasmin and I may cry a few happy tears for the younger me.

And I absolutely agree that Monster High would NOT exist without the success of Bratz. There were bits and pieces of their influence in a lot of the dolls that came after them.

My parents let me watch Eyes Wide Shut and Showgirls endlessly in our living room when I was a young teen, so Bratz hardly scandalized them.

I always wanted Bratz when I was little but my parents were too poor to buy me these dolls. The closest I got to Bratz was a $5 Myscene Doll and I loved her! I have all of the 20th anniversary Bratz dolls including Cameron!

My home wasn't a Bratz free zone, but my parents didn't have much money back then and I used to get the cheap knock-off versions of Barbie, I only had one or two original Barbie dolls that I got as a gift from someone else, so I would love to buy myself a Bratz doll now as an adult

I wasn't allowed to have Bratz because I was already 8 or 9 when they came around here, and I was "too old". I used to buy them at the bargain shop, hide them in a bush a block from my house and when my mom went to work, I hopped on my bike and ran out to rescue my dolls! I only got caught having dolls once 😂

I'm not an adult who wasn't allowed bratz dolls, but I am a 16 year old boy who wasn't allowed dolls in general so now I've been spending all my money from allowance onto dolls. I already bought Cloe online (no clue when she'll get here) and when the rest are released at Walmart, Target, and Amazon in July I'll hopefully get the rest.

I am shook that MGA is doing this! These dolls are a HUGE part of my childhood and Jade was my absolute FAVORITE!!! I was a kid who was "not allowed" to have bratz. I had a large collection anyway. I had ways 😏😆 All 100% legal i promise LOL. I was just very creative in finding ways to get to the store and buy them without my parents knowing. And was lucky to have friends whose parents were cool with bratz and didn't mind taking us to the store when I was over 😄 These anniversary replicas are absolutely beautiful and I will be buying them all as they are released. MGA has me by the wallet and my bank account is crying 😭😂

I am definitely buying Jade and Cameron. Jade is my favorite cuz my dad got me two of her when he couldn't find the twinz so I could have twin dolls. That's why she is my favorite. My friends had my scene dolls but I loved bratz more. I played with them from age 14 onto age 18 and then I ended up giving them away. I wish I had held onto them. My friend still has the safari Cameron cuz it looked like him so i gave him the doll.

I'm a 32 years old trans woman, i was already "too old" when Bratz came out but i absolutely L O V E D them. Thankfully i have a younger (afab) sister, so i was able to live Bratz through her. I wasn't allowed to play with dolls, so we played with Bratz and Barbie in secret. I'm so glad to see a lot of amab people saying that their parents had no issues with them wanting/playing with dolls. Just let your kids play with wathever they want (Of course now i own more than a 100 Bratz dolls and more than 300 dolls in general, lol.)
