Welcome to My World! My pronouns are she/her and I am a 55 year old mom who believes no matter how old we get, we never need to grow up! I collect Barbie, Monster High, Ever After High, Rainbow High, LOL OMG, Na Na Na Surprise, Disney Princess Dolls and so many more! I love fashion dolls and I believe that dolls are the best toys for people to improve empathy and to explore their creativity!

I instantly noticed that the Jasmine doll didn't have her gold earrings and necklace. But they retained Pocahontas' necklace and gave Mulan a hair piece.

Pocahontas probably kept the necklace because she doesn’t really have any crown or hair piece like the others (mulan’s seems to be inspired by the comb from the movie)

The reason pocahontas has a closed smile could be because some native american cultures consider showing teeth as rude. Kaya From American Girl has a closed mouth smile for that reason

Regarding the spillage of the color reveal: probably the plastic crown things which you stuck into your hair is missing. It is leaving a hole in the lid.

I think the reason she’s not smiling is because in Native American culture you can’t show your teeth when you smile it’s a form of respect Kaya from American girl is the only American Indian doll who does not smile for the same reason.

I think Pocahontas is just more stoic than the other princesses. I know she smiled in her movie a little bit, but I don't think she smelled that much.

Pocahontas is the only representation for me that Disney has ever made that I know for Native Americans it’s so sad how much less we get rep then others like we still exist

Right but it also glorifies the horrors that happened to a young indigenous girl. I feel like they should add something at the beginning and give a big apology to the american indigenous communities too

It’s true that Pocahontas is often left by the wayside.I would love to get more cultural references for her as well as historical references. This is so sad because her culture actually has made very stunning art and clothing there is absolutely a lot that the teams could pull from. Disney has made so much importance for other cultures including Polynesian tribes like Moana…

I think the reason why the Pocahontas doll is not smiling is because in Native American culture you can’t show teeth when you smile it’s a form of respect same thing was done with Kaya from American girl doll she’s the only one who doesn’t show her teeth.

They did a 25th anniversary celebration. It’s on Disney+ for beauty and the beast. It’s a retelling and they do some live musical numbers with original animation from the movie as well. It’s not entirely live action.

That would be really cool, I would love that! But I think they feel like doing that would be cultural appropriation or racist in some way, and also she never wears it in the movie so it's not as "marketable", or appealing to kids... But IMAGINE a high-quality collector doll of Pocahontas dressed all-out in regalia! That would be AMAZING!

I think it’s because their lips shape can’t show up in their smile. Like some people love to complain “Oh, Mattel remove their lips shape, it’s a disaster and offensive thing”. Or maybe they just feel sad because they always being left over

They have the minis for half the price if you don't want to bother with the color revel gimmick. They are quite cute I like them better then 11 in. ones.

When you do the ily dolls can you do more then if it fits Barbie? I don’t feel satisfied with any answer weather they’d fit any G3 MH I know they can wear RH shoes but can the Ily shoes fit on them or MH since MH can wear RH shoes. And I mean BESIDES Draculaura she has her specific body type but Lagoona and Clawdeen Ghoulia have theirs and Cleo has her and Twyla is shorter but not as full figured as Draculaura. I mean you know a lot of just want to redress out G3 dolls cause Frankly their clothing is not giving. I have my eye on a Ily fashion pack I love but I’m not into the dolls too normie. I do collect Ariel but the molded on it’s a hard NO.

Because in some tribes, smiling looks like a predatory wild animal (e.g. a wolf or a bear) snarling.

At least Mattel dolls have better hair than Hasbro dolls. I have gotten a few Hasbro dolls from Thrift Shops and their hair is horrible!! Untameable!! Really bad!! I end up donating them.
