ABOUT VEDANTA
Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions.
ABOUT US
Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

I bow before the humility and grandeur of the Ramakrishna mission which silently does all the charitable , social and spiritual work without any fuss and attention. Sarvapriyananda Swamiji is a worthy and admirable guru in the lineage of great spiritual masters. Harvard must be lucky and blessed to have him speak.

The most natural sequence of life are the four ashrams.. It is THE greatest Sadhana and is of immense Austerity to directly take to Sannyasa.. Moment to Moment transformation and elevation in directly taking to Sannyasa and managing the Body/Mind is THE greatest offering that one can make for oneself and the Lord... We revere and bow down to every Sannyasi on the planet for all the Sadhana that goes into making such a Giant personality and the offering to the Lord - The person of leading the life of Sannyasa!!!!

Is Nirbad like Thithiksha that Krishna says in chapter 2 and which you have so beautifully elaborated on in your Bhagavad Gita lessons. I happened to go through those videos recently. I relate Nirbad to thithiksha

Swami talks about being monk-like internally. The MY in 'my son' is an appearance as per Advaita Vedanta. And consequently, everything else associated with MY becomes mithya. Understanding and reflecting on this, while doing karma yoga for the son and others, if one can keep the focus on the one truth, it should be beneficial.

Equality -- for women? There will never be equality if you only focus on one gender. Who risked their lives building those beautiful temples?

@@suryabhowmickxd9688 Women don't build monasteries, men do. That's not equality. Social inequality between the sexes goes way beyond monasticism. Who dies fighting in the wars? who are the majority of homeless people? Who has no reproductive rights and has to fight in a female biased family court system just to see their own children? Who are the majority of suicides? Men, that's who. Women whine to get the good things that men have but when it comes to building temples I can tell you now my friend that the women won't be interested until all the real work has been done.
@kalyanguharoy8447

Yeah all the beautiful temples were built by the men but all the beautiful small homes were made by the women where those sculptors came from their work to take rest and became inspired by their womenfolk !
@GOD-OF-MGTOW
@GOD-OF-MGTOW 4 жыл бұрын
@@kalyanguharoy8447 So men built the big temples and women "built" the small homes. Is that equal? People like you are the reason why men will always have to do more and that's ok but don't you dare call that equality. You are blind my friend.

@@GOD-OF-MGTOW men and women complement each other.. Without Shakti ,the Shiva is a lying corpse.. Shakti is the active Brahman..Shakti complements shiva.. one cannot go ignoring the other and secondly woman, man these differences are merely physical and belongs to the body only.. are you the body? No..we all are the same consciousness existence bliss.. This bodily discrimination is merely because you are identified with the body..Vedantis are never identified with the body thats why they can think of true equality while you cant because you are being decieved by maya..

Monasticism belongs more of a Buddhist tradition. Hindus had Ashram or Gurukul system, where teachers were married and students stayed with the teachers. Monasticism is unnatural and was not common during the Vedic times. Vivekananda did not die naturally. Most probably, he was assassinated. Ramakrishna Math should not be covering up such huge crimes in history.

Sir are you mad ? What do you mean Vivekananda didn't die naturally, he died very normally but yes he had ichha-mritu. Read his Biography by his Eastern and Western Desciples
