Moncton is named in honor of Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Monckton (1726-1782), who captured Fort Beauséjour and took part in the deportation of the Acadians. It would be like naming a town Hitlerton, after Adolf Hitler.

Wow, very interesting

Acadian challenge level impossible - try not to be annoying I see you everywhere I google moncton. Shut up, he was a military officer deporting civilians who refused to sign oath to the crown to other french settlements. Not great but not a valid comparison to a man who waged a war of ethnic eradication/mass murder. Shut the fuck up about Monckton, no Acadian in Moncton gives a shit.
