Hi Rob! I enjoy these showing of your auction wins very much. Another generous lot of Czechoslovakia stamps! Putting the two lots for $5 each together will give you a pretty comprehensive collection for a meagre $10. You got such a bargain! I cannot say much more about your New Zealand stamps than what Stephen already commented. I can also not really comment about the $5 for them. For that one will have to have a bit more specialized knowledge of each stamp, because, as Stephen wrote, many of them had many variations of which prices might most likely differ. But still I think, or an older lot of stamps, $5 for the NZ stamps might not be too much. Thanks so much for the video!!! 🙂

Another nice collection of Czechoslovak stamps and again a good buy at $5. I noticed that there were 3 of the mushroom stamps that you were missing yesterday, so that's good. Yes, doplatit and doplatne on stamps means postage due. I'm not an expert on New Zealand stamps, but I may be able to shed a little light on a couple of them. Firstly, the red stamp with the woman on was in use over quite a period starting in 1901, so there are lots of variations as can clearly be seen just looking at what you have. The War Tax stamp is from 1915. The Life Insurance stamps were not postage due stamps, but official stamps for use in the Life Insurance Department. I'm not really sure how that worked, but the one you have I think is the second design (from 1905 to 1947). There are a lot of varieties (based on watermark and perforation) which could affect the value. In 1947 a new set of 8 values was issued with values ranging from 1/2d to 1 shilling. In 1967, when New Zealand adopted decimal currency, these stamps were issued overprinted with decimal values (as a set of 6 stamps). A 7-stamp set with new designs in decimal currency were released in 1969 and then in 1979 the 1/2c value was issued surcharged 25c. Finally, in 1981 a 6-stamp set with a stylised image of a lighthouse was released. These stamps were made available (in mint condition) to collectors but were not valid for ordinary postage. As far as I know, Life Insurance stamps are no longer used, but I'm not sure when their use ended. Nice video Rob. Thank you.

Not really sure whether this was as good a bargain as the Czechoslovak stamps, but like I said, I'm no expert on New Zealand material and with the earlier stamps, so much depends on which variety you have. It certainly seems that you are happy with the stamps for $5 and at the end of the day, that's what matters most. Several years ago I used to help the one stamp dealer left in Adelaide and he knew a lot about New Zealand stamps and I'm sure he could have advised you. I doubt that you would have got the stamps for $5 though as he used to charge a minimum of $1 per stamp pre 1945 and a minimum of 50c per stamp up to about 1980 and they just went up from there. I guess, based on that, it was a bargain.

I feel as though I may not have got as much for my $5 on these New Zealand stamps they were still a good deal for me. Once again I don’t collect for value as is apparent in my collection and knowledge lol. Thank you for all the great information
