A positive: My brain is on fire!!! Alert, awake. Feel fantastic. My weight is not coming off, but I’m not giving up on that front. The fact that I feel fantastic, is good enough reason to stay carnivore. Long term goal: to be healthy!!

I am a 79-year-old male. In many ways, I'm typical during my younger years, especially in my 20s. I could eat just about anything, and I felt good. I was healthy. I remember being in the Navy; sometimes, I would have weekend liberty. I would rent a hotel room with special rates for service people, and one of my favorite things to do was buy a dollar's worth of candy bars. In 1966, you could buy ten candy bars for a dollar, which were about the same size as today. And I enjoyed sometimes being by myself and having a room and television set all to myself. So I would eat all ten candy bars over the weekend and other standard American diet burgers and fries. I felt great, and at the end of the weekend, I put on my size 31 waist uniform and returned to my ship. As I got into my 30s and 40s, I experienced the same middle-aged weight gain as most people. In my 50s, I developed a nasty case of ulcerative colitis; the doctors told me I would have it for life, and the best we could do was manage it. I spent a miserable year at 54 trying to do what the medical establishment told me. Finally, in desperation, I turned to the Internet and found the Atkins diet against medical advice. I did it anyway because their pills weren't Helping. I eventually threw all the drugs away and went on Atkins, and within six months, my colitis was gone. After that, however, I started developing gout. The medical establishment blamed all the Meat I was eating, never once thinking it could be anything else. I used to love to sauté lots of spinach and cauliflower, but they're healthy, right? They couldn't possibly be causing my gout. I quit the Atkins diet and started eating the standard American diet again. I went up to over 260 pounds, felt terrible, and lived that way until I was about 70. The great thing about the ketogenic diet is that it has the correct fat ratio compared to early Atkins, about 65% fat to 35% protein. A few years ago, I accidentally stumbled upon you and Dr. Barry; I started following his advice. What a difference! I now weigh 175; my testosterone went from 2 to over 10. The best thing is that it's relatively easy. If you're hungry, no problem, grab a ribeye steak or maybe just some ground beef burgers or whatever you like as long as it's carnivore. I know there are some people out there who are so addicted to carbohydrates that nothing looks good to them except something like a Dairy Queen hot fudge sundae. The only advice that I can offer is to remember that nothing tastes good enough to feel bad!!!!!!!

I'm celebrating another annual physical blood work results. Another win because of Dr. Berry's diet advice. I was type 2 diabetic during Covid. @@TheFuzzieWuzzie Outstanding. I had to fast for a C-scope for 2 days. Never did THAT before. There were anxious moments on the first day, but I didn't think about food for most of the second day. Dr. Sven does alternate day fasting and one meal a day. (OMAD) That's the goal for me.

*It worked for me.* I went low carb in Oct 2021 after being diagnosed with diabetes. It was reading people's comments in videos that it had worked for them that made me decide to try it. Only took 3 months to remit my diabetes. I'm 66 and now weigh what I did back in the early 1980s, without even trying. At 5 ft I was 80kg, now 58kg. Waist went from 44" to 35". I am metabolically healthy, CAC = 0 (end of 2022), high LDL at 300+, good trig/HDL ratio.

I am a T1D. Over the last year I have eaten a very low carb diet. My A1C has dropped to a mere 5.5. Lately, I am now eating salad at lunch and meat for breakfast and dinner. I have also added magnesium glycinate to my diet as well as many other supplements. My BP is quite high and I have had to go on Lisinopril to help lower it about a week ago. My goal is to stick with the magnesium and eventually remove the Lisinopril. I am in need of finding the source of the high BP. I refuse to take cholesterol meds as my cholesterol is "high." I have also looked on the websites you shared to find a keto doctor near me and there is not a single one in my area on the links you shared. Pffttt!!! Oh well, I will keep looking.

@@ShipCreek IF your insurance would cover the doctor, that might work. If not, then you'd have to pay out of pocket, and that could be too expensive for a lot of folks. That's the only real drawback I could see, plus no physical exam, which might be needed for some people too. But it could work for some people though, so thanks for that information.

Hello, I'm a 50 year old woman who's in remission from chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was on a weekly biologic injectible medication "Enbrel," with other prescriptions like Celebrex, Methotrexate, Tramadol & Prednisone at times that made my immune system sick and my body obese & weak starting at the age of 27. I started eating a ketogenic lifestyle in September 2019, and now I'm mainly carnivore "Ketovore." This way of eating is the only thing that has helped my weight loss of 60lbs, severe pain, inflammation, and other metobolic health conditions. Also, I started implementing lifting heavy weights, strength training & balance exercises 4 times a week last April. It has been a new life for me! You can seek your true health every day, starting with what you eat/drink & don't eat/drink. Thank you, Peace & love from Virginia Christine Peters

When ButterflyLove asked about bariatric surgery....I had a friend (who has since passed on due to other health issues), who had that surgery several years ago, and she could not eat meat, even chewing it very well first as her doctor suggested, without it getting hung up or stuck (is the only way I know how to describe it, hopefully you know what I mean), which of course causes nausea and such....she could eat eggs, but meat was a huge problem for her. She said later on that she found out that some others who had that surgery seemed to have the same type of problem when trying to eat meat. She was never told by the doctors that it could potentially be a problem for gastric bypass patients though, even if people chewed the meat very well before swallowing it. As a matter of fact they were upset with her for not following their dietary restrictions and eating meat as they recommended. If this is so, then I hope that people who have not had that surgery yet, will rethink having it, because as Dr. Berry said, their digestive system will never be the same afterwards, and if they ever hope to go carnivore, they may have problems trying to do that if all of that is true for many of them regarding eating meat.

Hello from Southeast Michigan. I have some major pain issues (gluteal tendonapathy, hip bursitis, and all the associated muscle aches and pains associated with compensating for this for several years--from my ribs down to my lower thighs). I've had steroid shots and PT, cupping, dry needling and I'm currently just trying to do some light exercises to strengthen the areas. I do not have any pain-free days. I'm 64, I'm not overweight but I do have high cholesterol (familial)... I'm interested in learning how to fast. I take two drugs: Meloxicam 15 mg and Zetia 10 mg. I take these in the morning after having breakfast. I don't want to take these meds on an empty stomach (I don't want to take ANY meds, and refuse statins--they caused horrible side effects for me). I'm hoping intermittent fasting can help eliminate inflammation and help with the high cholesterol. Meanwhile, how do I take meds when fasting? What timeline for fasting would benefit me? Thanks so much. I just don't know where to start.

You can water fast for 24 hours starting just after your first breakfast, and have breakfast with medicine a little later the next day. Work up to longer fasts slowly, making sure you have unflavored electrolytes with your water. Some people put sea salt under their tongues instead of adding electrolytes to water. Some add a half pack of element to each 16 ounces of water. I actually don’t need salt for a 24-hour fast, but I got leg cramps at night after a 44-hour fast. I ordered LMNT electrolytes. Flavored salts trigger glucose spikes/break your fast in a lot of people. I guess the body reacts to the flavors as if they are sugars. Please do several 24-hr hr fasts before going longer. Listen to your body. It is recommended that you buy a Keto Mojo glucose/ketone monitor if you decide to fast for more than 1 day. You never want to go under 50 mg/dL of glucose or over 8.0 ketones. Start by slowly decreasing your Intermittent Fasting daily eating window. Best wishes!😊

I would love to try the 12 Oreo trick on my doctor. However that would be a slippery slope for this sugarholic.

Best thing about keto-ketovore-carnivore is no more depression! When I avoid all plant material of any kind, I have the best, most consistent mood in all my 60 years.

I'm a recovering sugar addict. Started carnivore on January 9th and eating one meal a day. I'm down about 21 pounds, from 208 to 187. I'm 48 hours into a 72 hour fast. I'm adding fermented foods starting tomorrow. Once I lose the weight, I WILL start HIIT and sprinting. I'm concerned about a cardiac event until I'm freed of most of the visceral fat, intra-muscular fat, and love handles. Call me crazy, but I swear the hair is starting to grow back on the top of my head. I'm in the Triad area of North Carolina. Love your show, partly because y'all don't talk funny.

In 2020, my husband was dying and I had constant pain due fatty liver. Changed diet...low carbs. My ALT in 2020 was 39, now down to 23 in 2024. Also A1c 6% in 2020, now 5.4%. My doctor is freaking out about my LDL was 109 in 2007, now it's at 230. It appears that my liver is being healed. I no longer have pain. A1c is down. Should I be concerned about my LDL? Even my holistic doctor said it's a little high. He's treating me for bacteria in my stool and provides supplements. I don't go by his recommended diet, although he does say low carbs are best. He suggested steel cut oats. NO! Also, I'm never going to take statins. I saw what they did to my mom-in-love.

@@jennifermarlow. Thank you very much Jennifer. I have watched Dr. Berry's and Dr. Westman's videos, after I saw my GP, which actually helped alot. I was thinking at my appt, wow, my diet changes have turned almost everything around BUT my cholesterol, now I'm going to have a freaking heart attack, when I've been doing everything within my power to be here for my children. I have included a supplement called Heart Savior that I know worked to bring my husband's cholesterol down. I saw his blood work within a three month time frame. I'll see if it helps me. 😀 At this point I feel so good about everything else, I'm not going to worry about it. Thank you again.

51 minutes: Blood pressure machines: Small home BP machines (40-60$) are at least 10 points inaccurate - usually towards lower range compared to the hospital/ambulance machines (33 thousand $). Some drs offices use the cheap machines and are too lazy to do traditional BP measureing, so take note that a reading of 140 is really 150 etc.

Sugar is buy far harder than alcohol. 50 years old been carnivore year and a half now. Been drink every day for 25 plus years alcohol was easy to stop only have a hydraulic sandwich every once in awhile. But sugar it hard not to drive to the store on whim just to get a donut. Its crazy i have never been big on treats and desserts my whole life but it seems every couple weeks i just have to have a donut its like crack. I behave my self 98% of the time with no problem but yeah sugar woow.

I broke my drinking habit by micro dosing psychedelic mushrooms. And a couple of 2 gram macro doses. This was in November of last year. I still drank here and there afterwards, I tried to keep it to those canned cocktails. Fast forward January and a few critical KZfaq videos later and I’m starting to pack up my pantry to prepare for carnivore. In the year since I’ve been 90% BBBE, with a few lapses in my eating plan. My desire for alcohol is basically gone. I’ve even had my coat on ready to run out to buy something to drink and now I can talk myself down. It’s boredom. I’m going back to work soon, I might as well. They want me to come back, which is nice.
