This was the last season of the show primarily featuring musical guests from hip hop and R&B. The boy band/pop princess craze was emerging and soon to take over in the next few years. A preview of what _TRL_ was going to do for pop culture soon after.

Season 3 was the last season 2 do that. Season 4 was the 1st 2 _not_ exclusively have urban musical guests

@@lt9074 Well Monica's version was #1 in the United States 🇺🇲 and several other countries when it was released in 1998! Monica's version is still loved and talked about to this day! It pretty much surpassed the original like Whitney Houston's version of I Will Always Love Surpassed Dolly Parton's original version! Not saying Eternal 's version isn't also beautiful
