Monk, now with Natalie by his side, head to her old teacher's classroom to learn more about realistic life expectancies of a goldfish and how what they learn definitely helps their case.
Monk is streaming now on Peacock: pck.tv/3JuixBg
Season 3, Episode 10, "Mr. Monk And The Red Herring": Single mom Natalie Teeger (Traylor Howard) hears a noise in the middle of the night. She checks on her daughter, Julie, and then goes to her living room. An intruder lunges at her out of the darkness, and a vicious struggle ensues. In desperation, Natalie grabs a scissors and stabs the intruder, killing him. Captain Stottlemeyer and Lieutenant Disher arrive to investigate the case. It turns out Natalie had another intruder in her house a couple of days earlier: a man posing as a water meter reader who looked around her living room and took off. Nobody can figure out what the crooks were after, so Captain Stottlemeyer recommends that Natalie contact Monk.

Monk Synopsis: Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.

No kidding. The whole series is a masterpiece. Here in México City they only aired the 1st season. I bought all the seasons and invited my friends and use to translate the series simultaneously into spanish. I did it for 8 months I a row.

You want to know the most bittersweet part of all this? Recent studies have shown that goldfish can live 10-15 years under the right environment (maybe even longer). So under different circumstances, Mr. Henry COULD'VE lived to be well over a year old, much less 6 years. Poor Mr. Henry

@@paulyont3092 Mr. Henry is a baby/very young goldfish. There is no such thing as a “Crimson Marblefish”. Common goldfish like Mr. Henry will grow to at least 8 inches long, and up to 1.5 feet. They do not “grow to fit the tank”.

@@Socksquash Well, Mitch Teeger should have given Julie any fish that could last for more than a decade, so Natalie wouldn’t have to lie to everyone, including and especially her own daughter. 🐟 😤

My understanding is that they did not fully know the direction they wanted to take Traylor Howard's character right after she got the role. I think by season 4, they knew the direction they wanted to take her character and when the scripts rolled around with her character in mind, it made it easier to give her character her own personality rather than just being the same

I believe some early Natalie episodes had originally been written with Sharona in mind, so this line may be a holdover

Yeah, I noticed that too. Early on with Natalie you can tell there were some Sharona-isms still left in the scripts, once Traylor had settled in Natalie became a different character altogether.
