Edward Dean Jeffries built the Monkeemobile based on the Pontiac GTO. He also created other cinematic gems like the Black Beuthy and worked on the 1966 Batmobile. The Corgi Company introduced a model from the series to the toy market in 1968 following the success of the TV series The Monkees featuring the American pop-rock band. It was very popular in the 1960s, right after the Batmobile. The model included figures of all the band members inside. I have done a full restoration of this toy including the restoration of the packaging. I thank you for watching the video, I post car repair videos on Tuesdays and Saturdays. @@brianartillery I wondered about that so did a web search. The roof was indeed all white ... or off-white at least. There is even a photo online with the car and all four of the Monkees. The box is correct.

Mickey is driving; Peter Tork is next to him; then Mike 'Woolhat' Nesmith. Davy Jones was the missing figure. I'm sure I read somewhere that he couldn't drive at the time the show was being made. I had this model as a kid, in 1967, and I loved it. Still do, actually.

O monkeenmobile é muito bonito e bastante potente. Que pena que não passa mais na televisão o seriado que eu assisti nos anos 60 , mas a miniatura da Corgi não veio aqui no Brasil. Quem sabe se vocês tem a nostalgia de ver o carrinho dos Monkees de novo, é só pedir pela Hot Wheels este carrinho e peçam para colocar na lista das suas miniaturas da marca. Ele não virá com os bonecos do grupo famoso, mas pelo menos já teremos um Monkeesmobile. Espero ter acertado o nome, mas pelo menos dei uma idéia e também ajuda. Vamos todos juntos? Sozinho não dá.

Павел,здравствуйте. Скажите пожалуйста как себя ведет хром от Молотов после высыхания? Я пробовал красить и пластик и картон. Сначала все идеально,но если коснешься пальцем хрома даже через месяц,то остается нехромированный отпечаток. Если несколько раз тронешь хром,то блеск пропадает и деталь становится серой. У Вас также?

Молотов Насколько мне известно, это лучшая хромовая жидкость на рынке. К сожалению, он очень нежный и не любит жир. естественно, что пальцы, прикасающиеся к нему, жирные. поэтому он реагирует сразу. У меня та же проблема. Я стараюсь хранить модели в витринах. можно попытаться найти прозрачный лак, но даже после лакирования он способен изменить свой идеальный блеск на серебристый цвет. The only suggestion I have, is that maybe you should have coloured the hub before fitting it, you can see the difference when the car is upside down

Was the original vehicle customised from a Pontiac GTO, by George Barris? I bought a perfect 'Husky' (smaller scale Corgi toy, before 'Corgi Juniors' were introduced) Monkeemobile from a car boot sale for £3 last year. Only thing wrong with it is that it isn't still carded. Yes. It's that good.

Strange that the car only had a partial white roof, when the real car and the picture on the box have a complete white roof.

@@strifefox4576 - I realize that, even looked at a few online, and saw they're all like that. But I wonder why Corgi got it wrong on the toy, but right on the box?

Mystery solved if you look at the photos of the surviving original. The white top is a canvas top and the Pontiac is in fact a convertible. Keep Monkeeing Around!
