The growth of Luffy! From a naive captain to one of the best captains

Oh captain, my captain Luffy is somebody I'd love to follow on the high seas. Also, Shanks would be a great captain to follow too plus Law

Despite Wano being very controversial for its length and pacing, you can't deny there's so many peak moments in in that arc. Luffy's showcase as a leader is one of them. Him constantly lecturing and prepped up Momo, acting brotherly like Ace to Tama, or how about him literally taking the burden of all the Udon prisoners' poison but still fighting to set an example and inspire the prisoners.

Shanks and luffy are the best captains to follow in one piece. BB is pretty cool captain as well because he has already told his crew that they just banded together for their own motives and benefits. No hard feelings. And that's fair I guess. Meanwhile there is basil Hawkins who uses his own crew as meat shields.

Luffy's best moment as a captain for me: 1)the climb on snow mountain with sanji and nami. And the first thing he said to the doctor after reaching the top was "treat my nakamas first, PLEASE" 2) in the beginning of drum kingdom arc, luffy was about to throw hands with drum citizens. Vivi taught him about how a captain should act and he can't be reckless because people following him will be in danger too. So luffy then kneels and begs for the help of drum kingdom while apologising politely. 3)after this moment, I never saw luffy jumping to fight right away. Whenever he needed help he always asked politely taking in consideration what others wanted. E.g. Amazon lily, he begs Hancock to help him. 4)the best moment....when luffy realises they aren't strong enough to face kizaru, sentomaru and pacifistas...he immediately separated his crew. He told sanji and Zoro that them 3 can't be together so they will each lead a group of 3 and run. He didnt show unnecessary chivalry and bravery. That would be foolish. 5)in wano, momo is crying because he thinks kinemon is dead. Luffy immediately tells momo to stfu and that he is a leader and that people die in war. Luffy teaches this to momo like a big bro because ace himself lost his life in war. 6)people of zou are asking luffy to help them in freeing wano. But luffy tells momo that he is the leader of these people. If momo wants luffy's help then he should himself ask for it. Stop hiding behind your people. And momo then asks for luffy's help and luffy's simple reply is "of course I will help you" 7)the best thing about luffy as a captain? He doesn't know the backstory of any of his crewmates. He doesn't need to know it. Backstory or not , they are people he likes.

i honestly never saw Luffy and Zoro's fight as even canon lowkey. it was just so totally out of character, i honestly headcanoned it to one of Oda's editors on his shoulder just goin' "😏 heyyy you got two strongest characters what if they y'know, duke it out a little, it'd get plenty o' readers!" and Oda just went with it only the one time.

Luffy is talented at recruiting people through his sense of humor, so when he's pissing his crew off on purpose and strategically doing unorthodox plans without anyone aware of them they will love him for it!😂 Or he's just a really fun and loving idiot savant! Lol!

You got to be kidding. Luffy is a terrible captain. If it wasnt for plot armor his choices would have killed the crew many times. His selfish actions freed many bad people from imple down. His overeating is a massive problem And he was angry he lost to kaido instead of caring about his crew. This man puts his only fun above the safety of his crew. He sucks as a captain.
