Actually netflix had it, since 2021 - they sat on it for 3yrs. Didn't release it. And in the end they gave it up. Because it has a fictional Hindu nationalist character, and they were scared of offending Modi and hindu nationalists in India. Jordan Peele picked it up. Look at this scene : 3:34 - it looks like Modi.

Lion is a heartfelt, moving and uplifting story based in India and abroad about how a boy re-unites with his birth parents 25 years later. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is well based on what the title says and its about an old foreigner couple who plan to spend their retirement years in India because it is inexpensive, which actually happens in real life too.

While the movie takes creative liberties, it draws inspiration from real-life events, portraying the struggles and resilience of individuals in the slums of Mumbai. The character Monkey Man is inspired by Hanuman, a legendary figure in Indian mythology. Both films are awe-inspiring because movies are a form of entertainment. Unless you're preferred him to do remakes with the likes of the fantastic 3 Idiots, the excellent English Vinglish, or the renowned Apu trilogy, which chronicles the journey of a man’s life?

The Tamils are proud Hindus, the Cholas, Cheras and Pandyas did their absolute best to preserve Sanatan Dharma, the legacy of the tamils is being the land of temples in India amongst other things. North east is also getting representation, there was a wonderful series called the Last Hour, representing North East pretty well. I agree tribal culture doesn't get much representation but thats because communicating and obtaining information about them is absolutely hard and yet India does have movies representing tribals too, not culturally of course but in other ways.

Story is, this movie was bought out by Netflix for 30 million. Jordan Peele had early access to view the movie, was super impressed and insisted it needs to come on the big screen first. He took on distribution and that’s why you see Jordan Peeles name on the movie. Or so I've heard.

I am excited and worried about this movie @the same time😂😂. Excited because its good to see representation of talented actors of colour in a big Hollywood Project being backed by one of the very respected producer Jordan Peele! Plus the trailor is shot beautifully with some good action scenes. I am worried because I am getting some Slumdog Millionaire/poverty porn/western gaze stereotypes from the trailer. I want to cheer for Dev Patel who is very talented brown actor who has pretty much taken things in his own hands to showcase his action skills but ultimately I am worried that beng a second generation Indian who never really lived in India or experienced India truly, he has shamelessly used same stereotypes which Danny Boyle did in Slum Dog! Using our Gods very superficially to make the colur palette of movie exotic without delving deeper is bit frightening Tbh.😢😢

I understand what Jaby is trying to say about the fight scenes. Rather than a quick action-reaction movement it feels like there is a slight pause in between increasing the reaction time from the antagonists. It so slight but it feels a little awkward for me, it feels like the rhythm is off beat.

Story prediction Hindu saffron party bad villian theme, caste system discrimination dikhayenge, minorty discrimination, whole india lives in slum, western culture supreme hai aur thoda bahut ache action scenes. Hanumanji's reference shown because they thought we will go directly watching the film. It is just to balance the film's ideology. Same pattern one businessman using his power against poor people. I wish they would have shown better theme, The same typical Nasty portrayal of indian slums and insult of Bhagwa Flag is old now in india and it's nkt gonna work here (may be the WEST gonna like it thanks to BBC, CNN, NY Times News portals,) film will definitely going to face backlash here might get censorship from Censor Board.. From cinematography and action prospective it looks soo good, DAVE PATEL had chance to show but he upset many indians but i know Elite CRITICs from india will love it might get masterpiece tag. Poverty Porn is an industry especially in Mumbai... Dharavi ka guided tour hota hai to show foriegners Indian Poverty.. matlab its like giving salary to people to stay poor. Mujhe toh trailer dekh ke hi samajh aa gya tha, ye bhavesh Joshi superhero ka big budget version hai bas saath mei thoda sa bhagwaan dikha dege taki thoda attract ho log aur emotion ki wajah se unhe samajh na aaye, lekin koi bhi thoda dimag wala hoga toh ussko propaganda trailer mei hi pta lag jayega. Maine to jab unke official channel par jaakar trailer pe comment kiya ki "I'm not getting positive vibes. to kuch logo ne bahut ghatiya anti Bharat aur Hinduphobic replies kiye. Kuch logo ne un comment karne walo ko bhi reply kiya. Eventually, maine comment delete kar diya. they are shamelessly trying to target Hanumanji, the epitome of Brahmacharya, discipline, devotion, responsibility and strength. Inhe na Brahmacharya ka matlab pata hai, na tapobal jaante hain aur lage Hanuman ko kendrit kar film banane.
