Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal Cycle Ride

A leisure cycle ride along the stunning Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal from Newport City to the beautiful historic town of Abergavenny along nearly 30 miles of canal.
Passing by some old restored canal locks, Goytre Wharf and holiday cottages set in a serene location.
Includes the brand new song "Along the Water".

@MadisonTen if I remember correctly, by bridge 112, there is stile which leads in to a couple of fields own by a farmer who let's people camp there for a small fee, he has toilets and showers there as well

@MadisonTen there is another way to get to this farmers' camp site. You have to get off the canal at bridge 115 and go down the road to a side street, but I can not remember the name off the street

There’s an Italian baker who has a pitch outside the indoor market, you can briefly see his blue gazebo in the film, he dose amazing bread, his filled focaccia is stunning

Great video Madison, I ride part of this canal to work and you seemed to have captured it in all its glory. Love the video and the simplicity of your filming allowing the scenery to do all the talking. Great shots at the end destination and loved the credit stills too. Gonna check put some more of your videos now. Keep on keeping on🖤💯

Thank you very much. It was a lovely ride, I really enjoyed it. I’m glad you noticed about letting the scenery do the talking, this is really what I want to get across. There are so many great places out there to cycle and find.

Great vid - love that route - so great in the summer. You can take a shortcut at the start and miss all that road crossing and bridges e.t.c. @0:41 if you turn left and then go up a tiny hill you'll be on a road that goes straight to the canal start.

Thanks for such a great tip! I didn’t know that. Saves having to cycle over, under and over the under pass which, as amazing a structure it is, isn’t the nicest place to be. I love that trail too. It was one of my favourite rides and will probably do it again one day.

@@MadisonTen No worries mate! Yeah that route is fantastic esp in the summer - but you have to go early or late otherwise it's stop every 5 mins for peds!! Super handy that the wharf has a coffee shop open from 10am-4pm most day :)

Nice work. We're staying near Abargavenny next week - I wonder what the upper section (to Brecon?) is like... have you ridden it?

No I’ve not ridden it yet, I’ve been interested in trying it as I believe there is more canal to follow. Hope you have a great time. It’s nice there.

With a lot of stopping for filming about 6 and half hours. It’s 29 miles. It could probably be done in 4hrs. For a shorter ride start at Goytre Wharf.

@@MadisonTen 4hr :/ i've only just got into biking, i've bought a flat bar road bike, would it handle this route, as you're on a mountain bike.

@@wicked-witch-of-the-west You should be ok providing it’s a dry day and has been dry for a while. Start with a short section, ride as far as you feel comfortable and remember you have to cycle back.
