Didnt you forget to talk about the key in monoalphabetic sub? just rambling the letters around makes no sense, then there is no way to decrypt

Yes a key is required to decrypt. In the homework he gave in the last, the phrase "lazy foz jumps over...." Is the key to decrypt. The key is just telling the receiver the plain text for each cypher text letter.

yes. Why? Because a Monoaphabetic cipher is a symmetric cipher. Meaning the same key is used for encryption and decryption. I think you follow the lecture and read the book:

8:30 How come we have 4! possibilities? We would have 26 options for 1st letter, 25 for the 2nd...and so on...So, possibilities = 26*25*24*23

But monoalphabetic technique is a SUBSTITUTION technique, then why permutation?, isn't substitution of letter is done here?

Permutation is a possibilities but substitution is replacing. Why do you make compare?

The permutation refers to the number of possible combinations of 26 letters using each letter only once. Which is 26! or 4.03…6 x 10 raised to the 26th power
