Great photos. Happy that someone also feels the way I do. I got off IG for a whole month to get away from the pointless scrolling of photos that were honestly not inspiring at all. Focused on shooting for shooting and not making videos for KZfaq and man was it a breath of fresh air. Thanks for this video.

Amen. People, streets, and stories. That’s the best kind of candid street photography. What’s popular or rewarded by the masses or algorithms are often derivative and duplicative. I prefer what you’re doing.

Thanks so much. I’m glad we are in the same page. It must be fashionable the fine art stuff right now. Along with the colour cinematic style of street photography with long lenses

@@paulreidphotography Yes, everything is “cinematic” these days. But then, here and there, are some lovely wet plate collodion photographers, and others who are capturing real moments and telling stories without having to resort to complex presets and photoshop transformations. Your Leica Q2M is the perfect tool for keeping it simple and true with stunning, black and white images. Continued success!

Glad to see you back, and really like your "street" style. While I do enjoy a good "fine art" (as you put it) photo, I find many of them formulaic and boring. Looking forward to your next presentation.

Love these photos. May I ask how much post production went into this? I am back and forth of getting a Q2 Mono but can't figure it out whether it is not just easier to convert "normal" footage. I would love to see one photo taken with a regular Q and a Mono.
@paulreidphotography

I don’t have the Q these days. Just the Q2 Mono. It’s different processing but no more difficult. I do however do a fair bit of post processing

Hi there - love your shots! Just curious... when taking people shots off-the-cuff (no prior permission given) are you concerned about legal ramifications from the subject? I'm thinking of things like face recognition software for web use etc which are now widely/freely available. I ask because I've found myself in that situation previously and it's not pretty. Thanks.
@paulreidphotography
@paulreidphotography Жыл бұрын
Hi Brad, here in the Uk it’s still legal to photograph people in public spaces. If someone really didn’t want their photograph published I would just not use their image

Thanks for your reply, Paul. I love your videos. Can I ask about your camera? I am hugely attracted to the Q2 Monochrome, and I could just about afford one. But what really makes it so much better for you than a plain Q2 which would give you more shooting options?
@paulreidphotography
@paulreidphotography Жыл бұрын
It really depends on how much you love monochrome photography. The Q2 is also a fantastic camera. The Q2 Monochrom just has an edge for monochrome images and I wanted the best camera for monochrome images that I could get. The RAW files however are very flat on the Q2 Monochrom and there is a little bit of a learning curve in editing them.
