This is a brief overview of the production of monoclonal antibodies (mAb), also known as hybridoma technology. Design inspired by Salman Khan. Special thanks to Professor DeMasi @ MCPHS University.

Wow, I knew the dumbed down explanation - but didn't realise the detailed process was so complicated. Thanks

Would you be able to give like what the 4 main steps are in making these antibodies

I don't get the step at the end where you rescreen for the specific antigen? You have immunized the mouse with one antigen in the beginning? Or do you obtain multiple B-cells with different antibodies?

Quick question, the hybridoma should have 4N chromosomes (2N from normal, 2N from tumor ), when these hybridoma mitosis, what will happen? Its progenitors will have 2N chromosomes? If so, if its progenitor split again, will it still have the ancestor all the hybridoma characteristics?

Anyone know if the myeloma cells are also derived from mice? Since the activated B cells are mouse-derived, I'd imagine that the myeloma cells should also be in order for fusion to occur.

He didn't say that the first animal dies, that's one of the reasons why pAb are more widely used, and it explains why only mouse and rabbit mAb exist. For ethical reasons, they wouldn't sacrifice a goat to take its spleen. This is what a professor told me.

U should have talk slower so that every single student from different countries also get these... and i think u should have talk lesser and write more so that the advantages and disadvantages which u were describing could be visualized by the reader...i think that would help me more
