I literally just found out about Mono Inc this week by randomly clicking on one of their videos. And then this video drops and it prefectly encapsulates what has happened recently in my life; I have recently found a very awesome girlfriend and she is helping me make sense of all these new emotions I have thanks to my hormone treatments. I don't know how I missed this band for 20 years, but I am happy that I found them when I did.

2-0 let's go Ravens. Countdown till January. This is shaping up to be a bangibg album. Been listening since 2016 and have never been disappointed.

At the beginning of August I'd never even heard of this band - I may have downloaded a tune in 2020 or 2021 without much thought. I then accidentally stumbled across PRINCESS OF THE NIGHT during a random KZfaq scroll. Suitably impressed, I clicked a link to CHILDREN OF THE DARK and - ****WOW!!**** - I was completely blown away. I have since been on a crash course learning everything I could about them and frantically downloading everything they've ever uploaded like there's no tomorrow. They've gone from zero in my awareness to my fave band virtually overnight. I'd love to write their official bio! I am totally mystified why this band isn't at least as big as Scorpions, Rammstein and Blind Guardian. Outside of their Germanic stronghold, they seem to have only cult status, when, with such an outstanding two-decade back catalogue of work, and sounding better than ever, they deserve to be headlining festivals worldwide. THIS tune is as good as any to get a good feel of their style, which they've (rightly) stuck to consistently, but covering all manner of themes in different albums, from the golden age of piracy to the Wild West to witch hunts to war. It's very melodic easily digestible Gothic Rock played to a generally straight tempo. Katha Mia's drumming reminds me a lot of Charlie Watts and Cindy Blackman, uncomplicated and yet very compelling. There's a certain X factor in how they all play. I could watch all three play all day. I'd be interested to know if like Blackman and Watts she has a jazz influence. She is also a great voice but prefers to stick to backing vocals. Martin Engler is not an outstanding Goth vocalist on the level of Peter Steele, but like Mick Jagger or Ozzy Osbourne, his voice ''does the job'' and he's a great frontman. Altogether, the band is far greater than the sum of the parts. The excellent melodies, the beginning/middle/end structure, the arrangements, the harmonies, great production, on almost every song for two decades. Astonishing. This song has all those features. It's another must-own. My Score: Very Good 4*
