Monolith Soft A History
Monolith Soft, a name you have probably heard at some point throughout the last 20 years. Whether it be associated with Xenoblade, Baten Kaitos, Xenogears, Xenosaga, or maybe even franchises such as The Legend of Zelda, but today its time to take a deeper look at this acclaimed developer and their storied history.

The best thing Nintendo did was to buy Monolith. They are the best part of the Nintendo family.

Monolith Soft have a lot of potential which is plain to see. They are already one of Nintendo’s most important developers and surely will be the most important and most recognisable developers outside of Nintendo itself.

Takahashi is one on the greatest videogame maker, no matter how many times people ignored his games, he still pushed to be able to finally gain the praise he deserves with xenoblade

To me at least, Monolith is one of those magical developers, one that when you read up on, you'd laugh it like it was a pipe dream. How could one studio consistently release these massive, critically acclaimed jrpgs, while at the same time driving some of the best selling and most prolific games of the generation, all while being considered one of, if not the best studios for its employees,with fantastic working conditions as well as aiming to create a diverse and inclusive environment. This is a company that shouldn't be real, and against the odds, somehow it is. Almost every game I've played from them is worthy of being in my top 10, and at this point I can't imagine a world where I'm not a fan for life.

Tetsuya Takahashi is one of the only golden age developers still making games. He worked on FF games, complained about only making FF games and the second he was allowed to have his own project he put a bunch of gunpla on his desk and made some of the craziest stories in videogame history. Even Bamco and Square screwing over his projects didn't stop him. He's a madman.

Thank you Satoru Iwata for convincing the Nintendo exec to buy Monilith Soft. Definitely one of the best decision ever made.

Xenogears is still to this day my favorite game of all time. Such an incredibly rich and deep story, characters, and world - and what's in the game is only the tip of the iceberg if you read into "Perfect Works". It's such a shame that we may never get to see any more of that original vision further fleshed out. When you look at what Monolith has been able to do not just with their own games at Nintendo, but also in support of some of the best 1st party titles Nintendo has ever made, it's not hard to imagine that SquareEnix probably deeply regrets driving Takahashi & Co. away while giving too much control to their somewhat indecisive and inefficient "golden boys". Just think - in the span of time it took SquareEnix to develop and release FFXV in what could finally be called a finished state, Royal Edition, MonolithSoft was able to develop not just one, but *three* massive and competently made Xenoblade titles, as well as even split their staff to make substantial contributions to Nintendo's killer apps. I bet SE really wishes they still had Monolith's talent behind them.

I have good news for you. Takahashi hasn't forgotten shit. Go watch the last few cutscenes of Future Redeemed. Actually if you think about it, there are Weltall references in both Smash and Xenoblade 3. Xenoblade 3 is one giant Xenogears reference. Matthew has a lot of the same animations as Fei and they brought back Joann Hogg and the flute motif from the Xenogears ending song.

Monolith is by far my favorite developer. Their image to create unique experience is what drives them to create such unique experiences that I love so much. I can't wait to see what such a talented studio will do next! Great video Xenogamer!

To me Monolithsoft is the "true soul" of old Squaresoft. To this day you can still feel the "squaresoft" feel on their game and how its influence their game. When i play their game it really remind me a lot when i play old Squaresoft games. Ambitious, passionate and full of soul. Monolithsoft is really the Old Guard. Honestly among modern JRPG i played only monolithsoft game that truly leave mark in me, i play XB2 because i just want to play other nintendo jrpg to fill my time and didnt expect anything and boy glad i played it. I really cant wait for XB3 and i also wish monolith make their own IP beside xenoblade, i really want to see what they can produce. Hopefully nintendo is more lenient and allow them to create something else beside xenoblade

After playing the xenoblade 2 for obvious reasons 😏, the story alive grabbed me and after investing 400+ hours I can say it my favorite JRPG. Monolithsoft soft amazing quality and content that they provided I have become a dedicated fan.

Hopefully Nintendo gives Monolith Soft the keys to work on the Golden Sun franchise. As a fan of both Xenoblade and Golden Sun I trust Monolith with the series

@@jitensha5231 i agree with you, but seriously they really need to slow their ass down, like 4 games released in 1 year wtf, I'm not complaining I'm just saying that they need to slow tf down because think about it coldsteel 1 a game that released around 2010 and riverie on 2022 didn't have that different around their gameplay, even the graphics were not that far and yet this series is not even close to finish

My first game from Monolith being Xenoblade Chronicles X back in 2015 and falling in love with that. Fast forward to 2020 and I’m still a huge fan and I can gladly say they’re easy one of my favorite developers if not favorite ever. I’ve played every single Xenoblade Chronicles title and I look forward to the next releases this studio dishes out (Here’s hoping X gets ported to the switch)!!

18:23- 2 years after this video and now, only one of these projects brought up here has yet to be revealed. The BOTW sequel is on the way, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was recently announced, likely being the game developed by the Tokyo team. If the BOTW sequel comes out this year we'll have another strong year for Monolith Soft. Also, I know I'm late here, but very well-done video man, thanks for it, and keep on keeping on

I absolutely adore The Last Story, which was part of operation rainfall along with Xenoblade and Pandora's Tower. I would love to see a remaster on Switch :-)

Without Monolith Soft there wouldn’t be a breath of the wild and less a pokemon legends Arceus or even games from other companies as Inmortal fenyx rising. And all of that is nothing compared to the Xeno series.

Don't think Nintendo of Europe gets enough credit for doing all the work with localising Xenoblade Chronicles. I don't think NOA would of brought it over without the ground work already done.

Again another US KZfaqr talked about the Xeno series and makes a big deal about how Xenoblade 1 almost didn't come to the US while ignoring the fact that Xenogears and saga have never been release in Europe or Australia.
