Here's the best way to play Monopoly: 1. Don't EVER buy properties, not even during an auction. 2. ALWAYS pay bail to get out of jail. If you follow these rules, you will be guaranteed to bankrupt first, so that you can get back to having fun and leave everyone else to their misery.

When your winning you feel like a god, and then if your not...you quit 15 minutes in cause you don't want to feel the pain for hours on end.

If you play Monopoly strictly with the official rules, then one match won’t last hours. The free parking rule and house rules in general just stretch out the game.

I hate Monopoly, either you do good and eventually win, however, everyone ends up banding against you and if they don't tank you they will hate you for winning, even if they don't outright say it you can can feel nobody is having fun and neither are you. If you're loosing is even worse, you already invested so much time, can't escape the loop of debt which then means you can't develop. Loosing in anything else is a done deal but in Monopoly is especially dragged out to inflict as much emotional pain and frustration as possible. Monopoly is a loose-loose game.

The background music of this video sounds like that loading screen song of Sim City Social on Facebook. Man! I really missed that Facebook game so much along with Car Town.

My advice to make monopoly better is to burn it. Watching the dancing flames as the cardboard burns and the plastic melts is infinitely more interesting than staring at this thing for hours on end. Embrace anarchy and eat the rich

I recommend Great Western Trail as an alternative Monopoly. Your first game will go three hours long but when you clear that first game you'll never play Monopoly again.

I gave up with this game after playing it for a couple weeks on the iPad. Would play it against the AI, and there are so many frustrating things about the game that I just finally gave up, and deleted the app. For one, it all comes down to the luck of the dice. Acquire a monopoly so you can build houses, and you've got the game won. I also got super fed up with the number of times I would land on the luxury and income tax spaces. I mean, there they are, two spaces I never want to land on, and yet somehow I would manage to land on at least one of them just about every time I go around the board. And yet I would constantly pass over the spaces that I wanted to land on. But overall, the gameplay really is just boring. You roll the die and hope for the "right" number, and many times you don't get it. And if you get lucky and end up with monopolies, then you end up a winner. But it's all a matter of luck. BORING!!!!

Oh I have memories of playing this game. Thank you SO much for dredging them up... I like your ideas for fixing it. I'm all for using house rules to fix sub par games, especially with any game that has so much history. It's sad that monopoly is one of the main games most everyone has played at some point and yet simultaneously one of the absolute worst. If it could be fixed that would be amazing.

The game might benefit from taxes, AKA taking out a portion of what the player currently owns every time they pass a certain space.

Monopoly is supposed to be bad. Check the history. It was made to simulate how property owners extort money from people. Strongly suggest it be played for a certain number of turns rather then going on forever with the last two players.
