Can you explain about the lightning button, why if you press it occasionally, it doesn't always activate?

Thats the Energy Recovery System (ERS). It is a battery system that helps drivers gain more horsepower and overtake other cars. You need to use it strategically. Overtime it recharges. So you can completely use it a lap but it will take a while to reach 100%. It doesn't have to be 100% to use it. You can use it at anytime. I mostly use it on straights and overtakes. Also use it during your qualifying laps.
