This is a very satisfying technique to begin exploring the use of chalk markers in a monoprinting technique or paint transfer method, use a ready made black primed canvas or you can use a spray paint or acrylic primer. Chalk markers are designed primarily for use on blackboards but I find you can use them in very creative artwork. Always finish with a varnish to protect the work and prevent smudges. Use water to erase or for paint effects.
Materials
Stretched canvas
Spray Paint (black acrylic)
Plastic sheet (use carrier bag)
Chalk Markers
Masking tape
Damp tissue/rag
Varnish to seal.

Great idea! I'm yet to experiment with gel plates but I plan to explore thus for some future demos.

Thank you so much! These are really great to experiment with, I hadn't used them for a while so I was interested in trying this idea of working over a primer of spray paint. Hope you give this a try and it's good to know that you found the demo interesting. I forgot to say that you should always fix the finished artwork with a spray of varnish for protection.
