@@LaserGarage I have a feeling he is talking about the lack of tech support mentioned above. Personally I've never had to use tech support for any machine, even when they don't work at first. I just assume anything coming out of China doesn't have tech support or a QC process, then adjust expectations accordingly. It is much less frustrating:)

I’ve had this machine for about 6 months. If you want to speed up engraving, go to “machine settings” under edit bar at top of page.(assuming you’re using lightburn) Go to “Engraving Parameters” & change the “X acceleration” to 10,000. & they “Y acceleration” to 4000. Make sure to press “Write after changing those numbers or it won’t save the new parameters. Not sure if Monport has changed the parameters with the newer machines but after doing this it made my engraving time drop significantly.

Recently, I purchased a Monport K40 Pro, but despite my efforts to set it up properly, it wasn't functioning correctly. After several attempts, I decided to contact the company to arrange a return. They instructed me to send a photo, assuring me they would then provide a UPS label. I sent the photo as requested, but after that, despite numerous follow-up emails, they suddenly ceased communication. It's been weeks now, which feels like a joke. When investing in mechanical products like this, one always expects the company to provide support, yet Monport failed to do so. I am dissatisfied with the experience. The device remains in my possession. It's important to be cautious, folks.

Shoot me an email, maybe I can help. That’s a 180 from my experience though. I still run my 80w almost daily and it’s still holding up great. But you’re 100% correct, always be cautious and do your research. Although they are a pretty penny, these are basically entry level C02 lasers, at least 1/3 the price of the next step up. I hope Monport can step up there customer service game though. Keep on them. Brett@arcshop.us

I’m on the market for an 80 watt co2 and just came across your series- great info. Question about the integrated chiller- any issues with it being mounted on the back? How often do you check it and refill? Thanks!
@LaserGarage
@LaserGarage 4 ай бұрын
Cool, thanks a lot. I haven’t experienced any problems with the chiller. I check the water level every month or so and change out the water about every 5-6 months. There is an alarm that will not let the laser run if the water level is too low.

Hi Brian, I just took delivery of my 80W with the built-in chiller. Question for you, did your chiller come filled with a green liquid? I can't get Monport's response on what it is or if I should flush it.
@LaserGarage
@LaserGarage Жыл бұрын
Interesting. No, mine was dry. Sounds like you have some sort of antifreeze in there from the factory. I’d personally flush it out and refill with clean distilled water or antifreeze solution if you need that in your climate.

That ortur fan is fine, You pay less up front and have to clean it more often and/or you have to replace it more often, depending how often you clean it. It is a good fan from what I can tell, but I do not have one. I have only needed 4 and 6 inch fans so far and opted for ac infinity since. AC infinity is a weed growing company, there are better fans. I like their controllers, though.

I am trying to decide between a Monport and OMTech. On Monport's website they say that the max Z-depth is 13.7". I assume that is the depth to the crumb tray and not the bed. Can you tell me what the Z-depth is to the top of the honeycomb bed when the bed is lowered all the way it will go?
@LaserGarage
@LaserGarage 4 ай бұрын
Steven, when I get a chance I’ll measure that on my Monport 80w.

How were you able to get all of the tape off so cleanly? Mine has little bits of white tape still stuck in the black frame.

You have to unscrew the safety acrylic from the black frame, remove the plastic film, then screw the acrylic back in place.

I think Aeon basically buys these types of Chinese lasers and completely overhauls them with upgraded electronics/components and rebrands. Could be wrong but I thought I heard that somewhere. Thanks for watching.

I am considering buying this laser but I keep reading horror stories about a lack of tech support when there are problems. What has been your experience? Are you going to do a deeper dive on this machine soon?
@LaserGarage

Hey Brian, thanks for watching. So far I haven’t had any issues that weren’t user error, KZfaq was able to help me out so I didn’t need to attempt tech support. One nice thing about Monport is that they do have US based support. They are also really responsive on instagram which is great. A deeper dive video is in the works, I’m just working on building up my experience right now. This laser continues to impress me and I use it daily.

@@LaserGarage Thanks for the info. I pulled the trigger last night so it should be on the way soon. Do you know if the built in chiller is equivalent to the external CW-5200? I'm looking forward to seeing more content from you.

Awesome! That is very exciting. Did you get the 80w with built in chiller? The built in chiller is a completely separate model I think. It looks similar to the 3000 but it has the alarms and dual operating mode features that the 5200 has.

Does you laser engraver have a passthru?
@LaserGarage
@LaserGarage 8 ай бұрын
Yes but only in the front.
@cluebin8398
@cluebin8398 6 ай бұрын
@@LaserGarage Is it common for the passthru to only be on the front? Seems like the whole purpose is to feed long material through it so you would want it to be able to extend out the back and then have a method of indexing each run to chain together pieces of a long work. Otherwise what's the point?
@LaserGarage
@LaserGarage 6 ай бұрын
Sorry I wasn’t clear. Yes there is a pass through on the front and back. Sometimes machines have a pass through going left to right along the x axis as well. That’s what I meant by saying it’s only in the front (y axis).
