Monst doll - opening eyes timelapse

I tried it once and never filmed the process, so I thought it was about time to give another try to opening eyes. I have to say that I do love Monst dolls for this, they are adorable!
Tools used in the process:
1. Precision knife (mine is a handle with a surgical blade)
2. Dremel stylo (in my case, but any electric nail filer will work)

Thank you, indeed it was a bit of a struggle as the vinyl is thick and quite hard but the Dremel helped a lot!

If you would like to try I would suggest to start with a puncture, then grow it and shape it. Just to avoid cutting too much. I tried once cutting everything from the beginning and I ended up with a very big eye and the head was ruined. Meanwhile I learned about the magical epoxy. So I guess a good start to fix a mistake would be to fill it in with epoxy and reshape it. 😊

i'd try using like putty i'm not sure i havent tried or permanent, using hot glue or something similar but i'm not sure how it will react to the head vinyl

@@jadyn5062 oh I apologize, I misunderstood. I'm using putty. I tried once with hot glue but it's messy and even messier if you would like to change the eyes later.

Did you have to heat the head at all to do this? Their heads are hard.

Hi MombiePlaysBarbie , thank you for your question 😊 I did not use heat for the head during the carving stage. Yes, the head is very hard yet I find that this makes it a bit easier to cut. With the heated vinyl you have more elasticity therefore a bit more residence for the blade and I am not able to make such clean cuts. I did used the heat at the end just to pop the head on the body without ruining the painting over the neck area 😄
