Undefeated heavyweight phenom Jared “The Real Big Baby” Anderson is angling for another big knockout. The fighting pride of Toledo, Ohio, steps up in class to face Belgian contender Ryad Merhy on Saturday, April 13, in the 10-round main event at American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
In the 10-round heavyweight co-feature, Nigerian puncher Efe Ajagba and Italian standout Guido “The Gladiator” Vianello will meet in a battle of 2016 Olympians.
The eight-round televised opener features three-time world title challenger Robson Conceicao, as he looks to keep his junior lightweight world title hopes alive against the upset-minded Jose Guardado.
Anderson-Merhy, Ajagba-Vianello and Conceição Guardado will be broadcast LIVE on ESPN, ESPN Deportes & ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

Anderson is still a prospect. He learned in the Martin fight that he doesn't have one-punch KO power at the higher levels. In his next fight, Anderson adjusted and broke his opponent down with body shots. How many heavyweights regularly throw body shots? Not many. And given that it's going to be at least 18 months to two years before he can fight for the title, Anderson has the opportunity to fully develop. But he's not there yet, although he's getting closer.

Wilder might be a big money fight too. But I'd hate for Wilder to go out that sad if he loses to Anderson.

Wen you have a punching bag in front of you, you will shine for sure but a punching bag with arms will fight you back and you need to defend ur self too.

If he beats merdy he needs to fight some step ups in Saudi. Joe Joyce, Dillian whyte, Hughie Fury, Ivan Dychko, Lenier Pero, Jose Larduet, Lenar Perez, Luis Ortiz, Otto Wallin, Murat Gassiev, Oscar Rivas, arslanbek Makhmudov, justis Huni there’s plenty of good matchup to see Jared in.

anderson is yet another boxer thats fed easy wins and he'll get cold cocked the moment he gets in with a live opponent. this kind of fight means nothing unless all he's interested in is padding out his record, he learned nothing from it. He should be matched against much better fighters, his management team need to sort it out or Anderson will get forgotten, or worse remembered as a guy that had talent but wasted time on fights like this.

Anderson doesn't have the drive for this sport at the highest level. And judging by his recent DUI, he might give up on the sport altogether.

@@antoniogonzalez4534 Of course I could not my friend. I am a 65 year old man. He would at the least put me in the hospital, or worse, the grave yard. But, I have been a boxing 🥊 fan for over 50 years. I can discern a tomato 🍅 can fighter from a legit heavyweight. The opponents Jared is fighting in these clips are slow, fat, and clearly not even close to being well conditioned athletes. Jared may be a legit contender, but we must see what he can do with another legit heavyweight boxer.
