Man, I'm so glad for these! GaijinHunter (love the guy!) did his guides for the weapons, and while they're all fantastic, they lack a "Coming from MHW" mindset. These help a lot more for a relative MH newbie like me because it explains "unlike in MHW", whereas GH's sometimes assumes you're more familiar with something like Generations than World.

I would like to make a case for Alchemy style, I pair it with the typical Glav, armor skills, heavy polish, quick sharp and so on, and those activate on the alchemy whetstone, giving you boosted art gauge gain and the locked in sharpness (and we all know how brittle a LS can be...) this allows for striker level art gain and use, pairing well with the extra powerful SP modes and helpful items for you and teammates, sacrificing very little in the way of attacks.

I have the 3ds version of this and I'm getting a switch just for this now. The valor style ls looks so cool.

I've been quite keen with aerial, especially with larger monsters so u have a better chance at the aerial attacks, but I'm really eager to try valor now, I love counter abilities, thank you!

Hey great tutorial. Your tutorials are my go to on monster hunter stuff. I first started on mhw but recently have gotten into mhgu as well (mainly for when i am on the go) but sadly i noticed you only have tutorials for LS and GS but nothing else. As a CB main (DB side main) i would love to see more tutorials for the other weapons (prowler too would be awesome) so far ive sort of figured out the changes on CB from mhw to mhgu but only for guild style. If i try any other ones im super confused about whats going on cuz the movelist is terrible at explaining whereas you make it easy to understand within a few minutes of playing around with the weapon. I saw your CB valor gameplay and it looked awesome but i wish you had a more in depth on it so i could understand whats going on with it

My brother. Just wana say thank u so much for the in depth long sword tutorial. This is my first time I play This game since I came long ago from Freedom Unite and Portable 3rd. Lots has changed since then and I was confused playing this new one. Am still facing problem in remembering all the buttons and to follow the monster using the camera. Is there anyway I can get an auto target for Monsters??? Another request please, can u add time stamp for each of the weapon styles in the description for future weapons showcase??? It will be faster for a noob player, such as myself to go directly to the style which I decided to go through. Many thx again and great work. Waiting for your other weapons tutorials.

In MHG I stay in Guild Style all the time because I find it hard to adapt to new combos. But in MHGU I instantly picked Valor for my LS (my Main Weapon since MHFU) and I need to say this style is by far the most enjoyable to play and to learn. It is true at the beginning it is quite hard to learn all these moves but man this style is just gorgous to look at and makes so much fun if you hit the spirit combo.

The longsword parry is the most glorious thing I’ve seen in monster hunter series so far

Striker is also super strong on LS because it has three amazing Hunter Arts. Played it most of Generations using the Silverwind Set and will recommend every time!

I recommend using guild with sakura slash and unhinged spirit if you want a lot of damage, using unhinged spirit you can infinitely chain spirit attacks by using the spirit back step before the final spirit strike

I don't know the armor skill names but one gives buffs for being at 75% health and gives a 50 resistance to all elements at the cost of Dragon blight and a skill that gives buffs for having red on your health bar, I plan to use these with valor

I would love to see the starlight gate/ Eternal Gate longsword in world. By far one of the coolest longswords in monster hunter games.

I never played any monster hunter game before so when I got this game I wasn’t sure what to use for long sword so I’ve just been using aerial cause it seemed like the easiest but now that I understand the arts and styles more I might have to choose valor or adept now cause they seem way better for dodging and way stronger

Hi Arekkz, can you continue doing videos for other weapons in GU?

Since I just watched your GS vid, I'll cut my comment short. I now see the basics of how the style mash together with all the weapons and I can see why speedrunners use longsword in valor style. the Iceborn DLC expansion I feel had got its LS moves from this game and I see my self using it as the " I'm using the Lai slash crit draw build". I mean I feels like I'm using my Velkana Frostcraft. Personally, I see my art being the constant spirit combo buff. The only two games of monster hunter I played substantially are Freedom Unite and World Iceborn, so this game feels like a midpoint between the two.

Is it true that when you just start out (so you don't have your blue meter) that when you avoid with Y you still take damage from the monster? or is it only from the detault damage you take when keeping Y up? Because it seems like I keep getting damage far greater then just from holding Y. (I might be mistaken ofcourse, hence the question)

Hey, thanks for making this video and doing the series on the weapons in World. I've watched all of them as I plan to use each for a hundred hunts before picking a main, but I still have a question that wasn't answered by the video and I didn't see my question in the comments yet... I noticed that in World you could do a special sheathing move, and in GU it looks like that same button mapping is in GU, but it doesn't function the way I thought it would. Instead of sheathing the blade for the Iai Slash I'm used to, it threw me straight into Sipirit Blade III when I had meter. Is that how it functions in GU, or am I not pressing the buttons at the same time like I think I am? Edit: Ok, retried and it was Spirit Blade I, not III, but I think I'm doing it wrong still. Anyone who can provide any input or help with this would be appreciated as I can see this combination of button on all six styles on the Switch. Thanks in advance!

if valor style makes a simple weapon like the LS as convoluted and technical as the charge blade then I don't even want to know what is does to the charge blade, i rather go study quantum mechanics.

How do you actually counterattack with Valor Longsword? There's like 3 seconds before I can attack after pressing or holding Y.

Why does this gameplay look so smooth?

I used to be a long sword user until MHW. Then I went Kinsect Staff, simply because it was too awesome to fly in the air. Look's like it's time to say hello to an old friend again. Who know's, I may even go Valor.

Is it just me or does DUal Blades feel entirely different from MHW? I hope you do a dual blades video soon, I need some help on figuring it out and learning it again. Until then, since this is the only tutorial you have, going to pick up and try Longsword for now.
