Last year we spent some time driving down through the fires and smoke in search of MONSTER King salmon as well as chrome wild steelhead. "Would you go out and chase steelhead in an impassable wildfire?" Yes. Had two of my most memorable days with a hard smoke ceiling a few hundred feet above the river canyon. Flames seen over the ridgetop, helicopter dipping water in the hole downstream, and unreal fishing. It was like the Magic Hour all day long.

Shoutout to the people fighting those fires and the people who lost what they worked for. Great video! I was raised in southern Oregon and it can get dicey down there. Prettiest part of Oregon. Miss living down there!

Lived in the PNW for about 3 years now. I’ve got a couple buddies who I tag along with on their boats, have only been out on the boats salmon fishing maybe 6-8 times. The past 2 years I’ve mailed in my salmon card empty. Either wrong species or wild fish. Last week I caught my first keeper king and she was a beautiful 20lb hatchery! I’ve been watching your vids for at least 2 years getting educated on how to catch these amazing creatures. Thank you for sharing your experiences and helping me learn the salmon fishing ropes.

Moved from CA now in Tennessee. Never got the chance to go, but husband caught many in Columbia at eagle creek and 2 others rivers in OR. I've heard stories for 25 years and he always is so excited when telling them. We actually had smoked salmon (store bought) cakes with rice to night! Went fishing today for bass, though back a small one back. Love your videos.

That was the coolest thing I have seen in a while. I don't know if it is the same but we had Salmon Patties my Mom made they were so good toss them on some buns with lettuce and tomatoes along with cheese and mustard they were excellent.

that is great how you scraped off the rest of the meat, no waste of the fish and that meat would be great for a chowder or stew, even a stuffed salmon meatloaf.

I live in Southern Oregon and this was a crazy and terrifying summer. You were constantly on high alert and didn't know if another fire was about to start and if it was going to be near your home. I know multiple people that lost their homes. Crazy you were here for it.

Love salmon burgers. When I make them from canned or leftover BBQ fish we call them salmon patties, and when we make them from raw salmon, we call them salmon burgers. I use Pepperidge farm seasoned stuffing instead of bread crumbs. Try it 😊

Bro same stuff happened with me and my daughter Aaliyah in Newport bay where all the fishing ships are...we were fishing off the piers and she caught a nice 16 inch herring it was a tank and a huuuuge sea lion was chasin it down my daughter was freaking out yelling at the sea lion not to take her fish after about 5 6 minutes of fighting she finally pulled it up...was the sickist fight I've ever seen one of the best days of my life she was sooooo proud excited and happy she keeps telling me the story every time we go fishing even if it's in our local lake or river...love the vids Jordan you taught me how to use a baitcaster on one of your vids can't get enough bro God bless

Great video, I love coastal rivers. At first I saw the boat and thought, "really, take a wooden boat out on high fire day." LOL Nice boat, love the side doors. Man, once you got out on the ocean, my face hurt from smiling. I like to make burger size filets about 3/4" thick, egg and bread it or corn meal it and fry the pieces, then toss on buns and goodies and eat.

I was in the Talent (OR) fires last year and I wouldn't have even considered getting on a boat during all that. Y'all are crazy! Also sad to see videos of Medford burning again.
