Back in 2004 Athens Olympic, LD lost out in the 1st round due to his high grip of the racket, which in caused him in not making any steep sharp shots and after that he trained himself to make steeper shots by only put grip by the end of the racket, so he'll only hold the racket at lower ends and it just became his signature. PS: towel grips in China that time was very expensive too.
