I love this scene is completely pointless yet is also the best scene in the movie by far.

It's not pointless you ding dong. It was clearly about peaceful communication. Without it, the war would have started immediately. This shows the vast difference between humans and aliens. We extend an arm of truth to extend peace. While most alien invaders have their way and just conquer and take. While aliens may have more technological advancement, they lack the greatest trait of all: Basic Humanity. Haven't you seen the Valerien and the City of a Thousand planets? How was the megastructure-city formed? Via peace. Every alien that came into contact with humanity was offered a hand in peace first. ☮ We did not extend arms of war first like some would. Like you see, here on earth we are all one people on this planet. We share it. And this idea extends even further. In the vast cosmos of Space, we as intelligent life forms all share the same Universe. And only through peace and cooperation would a utopia come to be among us. Lest we all kill one another. And this masterful scene in Monsters vs Aliens clearly shows that Humanity is on the right track on this movie. And it shows the youth of today that we always must extend hands of peace first before ever resorting to violence (As violence should ever be used for self defense only). Today's young minds must learn that they needn't fear the unknown. Without the invitation to peace, we all lose our basic humanity. And if all were to resort to such ruthless and brute filled behavior, the world and the rest of the universe would fall into pure chaos. Worlds, Solar Systems and entire Galaxies would fall into uninhabitable states where love, life and all that is good would cease to exist. HOWEVER, we can extend arms of peace and should we do that...We can lock arms in an unbreakable bond where Love, Life and ALL that is Great and Good can live and thrive for eons to come. May our children and their children' children know peace hope and life for eons to come! 🤝😤👍

Never saw this film, but can imagine that in the theatre, this scene got the biggest collective laugh from any and all audiences watching it. Flubbing the classic Close Encounters of the Third Kind five-notes, then cutting loose with Beverly Hills Cop, and done by the President. Frackin' brilliant!

I vaguely remember seeing it in a theatre at its release. Sad to say, if memory serves correctly, it wasn't appreciated by most there. This movie was kind of overshadowed by all the other films that released in 2009. I personally forgot about it for years and only remembered it existed after hearing the tune the president plays in this scene somewhere else. Though i appreciate it much more now that I've gotten older than i did back then.
