So glad you had this topic. My gorgeous monstera looks just like this sick plant. I will take it out of the pot and look at the roots. I have Neem oil so will use that even if I don't see bugs, I bet they are there. Good thing Monstera is agreeable to hacking leaves off. It will encourage new growth. I'll put a grow light in that dark corner also. Thanks again this video and thank you commenters, this is a life changer for my plant.

It might be pest problem, thrips or fungus gnats on soil. Thrips usually sucks the juice of the leaves that cause brown spots, you can use yellow sticky traps or mosquito bits for watering to control the pests, that’s what I do for my plants indoor,outdoor and it helps. I hope it will work for you too.

I think the reason behind the brown spots are because of pests. In the clip of you repotting the plant you can see there are small white bugs crawling around in the soil :( you can use neem oil or other pesticides to get rid of them.

I had the same problem and had to get rid of the plant after trying everything. It’s hard to specify exactly what can cause the browning of the leaf. Good luck 🍀👍🏼

You can clearly see the thrips (pest insects) during your repotting. Theyre crawling all over the roots and hiding in the soil. Also.- the soil is not very well draining for this type of plant, and when repotting you should try to remove most of the old soil as it's most likely out of nutrition :)

Yeah, my Monstera got the brown spots too and I noticed the bugs in the soil. Sprayed them with water based mosquito spray and they seem to have gone. I am keeping the leaf though. If it spreads further, I will cut it off.

hmmm, I was on a vacation at the end of june, and I got all the plants inside, and watered them, and pulled the blinders down, cause, you know, they need less water when there's less light. and now she has burned leaves... and she's not nearly as big as yours, if I were to cut these leaves, there'd be like 2 leaves left... I don't know what to dooo,... can I try and propagate it with damaged leaves? Can I just cut off the damaged part and leave the rest of the leaf so it can help in rooting the cuttings w/o diverting the energy trying to save leaves... I mean, I'll get it out of the pot, if I can, it's a big terracotta pot, just to make sure it's not a root problem, but I think it's the light issue, it was in really low light for 11 days, and that did her in... most of my other plants are fine, the only affected ones is monstera and fiddle leaf fig... I mean, fig is gone, it was really doing good, pushing new leaves, and then it dropped all the leaves in those 11 days... so annoying, and I got it for really cheap, don't think I'll be able to get it that cheap again..

My neighbor has this plant and it died I was so glad she let me have it . because I have so much love for plants .I never had one so now I have one but it is dead .I am going to try to re grow it.

My same issue of monstera was due to some bacterial infection. I jus cut the affected leaves and the problem was solved. But if you going to go on that route, then u need to do it fast or else it will spread.
