I had a crazy mantis as a pet last year, she ate everything, even as a young mantis, she would eat things larger than her. Even a grass hopper larger than her was no match. She was excellent.

@@elrey8876 its not a mismatch even the most bigger animal can be beaten by a much smaller one, the mantis and cricket have a fair chance. since the mantis isnt mature its hunting style is rusty and its still learning. if the mantis were to miss it said exactly in the video it would be the mantis who would get eaten but because the cricket was semi sluggish it lost. either one wouldve lost to the other its just called "being there wrong place wrong time" or as the narrator said once "beginner's luck" most mantis hardly make is to even being a sub adult due to being eaten by mantids or other bugs

it is fascinating how they just start in, eating, with no pause of any kind, while they are pulling the prey in. Their killing method is that they eat their prey to death, while holding it, and they eat virtually all of it, hard parts and soft parts. This mantis got 2 meals in one, with what the cricket had filled up on.

+Chris Smith You had young, inexperienced, but big, mantis vs quick, experienced, small cricket with keen senses. It was quite fair match up this time. If the cricket realised, that there's a mantis before him, he could back up and then strike from a different angle. Yeah, it was slowed down by food, but still, mantis is fast, when talking about the first pair of limbs, but the cricket is fast whole. Cricket could also win, if that mantis missed him, like it did before. Size doesn't mean everything, especially here. The first attack is the most important. Aaaand, these aren't supposed to be fair match ups.
