I once built up the word "Landesverbandsarbeitskreissitzungsteilnehmerliste" because I wanted to avoid a longer explanation in an extra sentence - so the one long word seemed the more comfortable solution to me. :) You have to read this word backwards, word by word, to guess the meaning: a list (Liste) of participants (Teilnehmer) of a meeting (Sitzung) of a working group (Arbeitskreis) within an association (Verband) of a federal state (Bundesland).

I absolutely love this video! This is soo cool! And Ashley does pretty good! Her pronunciation of “glücklich” (glucklick) had me cracking up tho. 😂 And every time native English speakers say “Nacht” (night) it sounds like “nackt” (naked). 😂 I know native English speakers have difficulties with the German umlauts and the “ch”. That’s the same as with the English “th”. Many Germans struggle to get this right. But I’d love to see more of this format in the future! 😄

May I correct a common mistake, same as you did in the clip with Becca? You said "Danke für Zuschauen", but in fact it is "für's" which is a slang abbreviation for "für das". I nearly fall of my chair, thanks for the fun! Regarding "ich" you should separate Hochdeutsch from local dialects. In terms of language theory you have to differentiate Dialekt from Metrolekt [I don't know it in English] and other terms, but that would be way to deep in this context. There are common dialects that differ from each other or from Hochdeutsch that much that people that are not used to it can barely understand what is said. In Berlin's dialect one would translate I with icke - and in colloquial contexts you may do this also in a written text. But in Hochdeutsch I think ich as word or syllable would always be pronounced that way you, Montana, did first. There is also "isch" common in some regions, like in fish or dish, but this is also not Hochdeutsch. I think the difficulty to know about pronounce ch German is to know when it is like ich or glücklich or in Fichte or hecheln and when it is like ach or Dach or Tuch. Unfortunately there are also words like Dachs, Büchse, Gewächs, Chor where the ch is pronounced like k (in Hochdeutsch). Especially interesting here: Dach, Buch but Dächer, Bücher with ch like in ich. It depends on the vowel. In German a and u are more like one family and ä, ü, i, e another family. So conequently in echt the ch is pronounced like in ich. Do you know this: Im dichten Fichtendickicht sind dicke Fichten wichtig, im dichten Fichtendickicht nicken dicke Fichten tüchtig. :-)

10:55 Please make clear to her that Fleisch doesn't mean Flesh. Imagine her saying: "Du hast sehr schönes Fleisch." 🙈 Wobei: "Du hast sehr schöne Haut." Sich total normal anhört und ein Kompliment ist 😉

Weeeeeeeell. "You have beatifull flesh" is just as creepy as saying "Du hast schönes Fleisch". Flesh = Soft muscle and fat tissue Meat= Soft muscle and fat tissue of an animal that is meant to be eaten. (i.e the product) I would translate Flesh as Fleisch because we don't have that clear distinction. For example "Ins eigene Fleisch schneiden" meaning cutting/hurting/obstructing yourself in a literal or metaphorical way, not your dinner. But "Ich schneide mein Fleisch" can mean either "I'm cutting my meat" or "Im cutting my flesh". So either your dinner or youself in a literal way. So the context defines the meaning of "Fleisch" while in english it wouldn't be correct to say "Meat" when refering to a person or any part of one if you are not planning to eat it even if the context makes it obvious what you are refering to, but all Meat is Flesh.

This is so funny. When you say "Backpfeifengesicht" you are pronouncing the "ck" as "ch" and ashley does it correctly but when you say "Eichhörnchen" you pronounce the "ch" correctly but ashley says "ck" :D
