Looks like a regular Monte Carlo with an SS nose to me
@joshuadyson59082 жыл бұрын
It was a half breed, it started as a 1983 SS but the original body had sever rust in the lower a pillar and front body mount supports. I found a clean body and used the rest of the 83's parts. I really don't see what it matters but to each his own.

How's the throttle response on it? I just finished my 385 short block yesterday and have this cam. I'm running 1.6s on the exhaust side to raise the lift to .538
@joshuadyson59083 жыл бұрын
The throttle response is great, it really starts pulling just above 3k rpms. That car ran 12.64 at 109mph first time out.

good video... was considering using this in a sbc 310. maybe slightly too much cam...idk
@joshuadyson59082 жыл бұрын
It is pretty aggressive but if you have high compression and plan on turning high rpm's it will be OK. It definitely needs at least a 3500 stall. That motor was 12.5:1 compression.

@dillinpicklesworth56983 жыл бұрын
have you had any issues with that cam since you installed it, or is it holding up good?
@joshuadyson59083 жыл бұрын
No issues for me it was well worth the $134 it cost. I ended up trading the Monte for a 1997 camaro slp ss and some cash. I'll have some videos up of the new build eventually I doing heads and a cam in that.

Are you running the power brakes or not enough vacuum?
@joshuadyson59083 жыл бұрын
The power brakes work but definitely not as good as they should. The car does stop good though.

Ever run it on the street with this cam? If so how did you like it? I’m building a 406 for my laguna as a weekend fun car and occasional daily trips on nice days
@joshuadyson5908 Жыл бұрын
I put some miles on it. It wasn't bad on the street, it doesn't start making power until 3000 rpms and I had it advanced 3°. You will definitely want a 3500 stall I has a 3000-3200 and it would have been better out of the hole with a little more than that. The car ran mid/High 12's. 11.5:1 compression 034 fully ported bootie heads stock bore.

Sounds good what are the specs?
@joshuadyson59082 жыл бұрын
256/264 duration at .050, .504 lift on a 105 lsa. It's mechanical flat tappet. Power comes in strong at 3000 rpms and would still be pulling strong at 6500 where I shifted.

26x7x15 mickey Thompson bias ply front runners, 28x10.5x15 M/T slick, rear wheels are 15x10 5.5 backspacing, go with 4.5" backspacing. I notched the frame and they still rubbed on hard corners. Fronts were 15x7 3.5" backspacing. Weld draglites.
